Coolant in oil! :/

I just noticed some coolant in my s5's oil!
Anybody know a good place where I can have it rebuilt with a street port! Or does anyone know someone selling a block already built?! Thx!

Rotary performance in Garland is highly recommended.
There are other places, I just don't know them off the top of my head.

Are you sure its even coolant? Our cars are notorious for fuel condensation under the oil cap giving a similar appearance to water or highly creamed coffee.

@ hotwheelz last Thursday my coolant warning light came on. I couldn't see a leak and it only took a bit to top it off so I paid it no mind. Then Friday same thing and today was nothing different! So I checked the dip stick and there was the milky oil! Then I pulled my distributor and the bottom of that was milky! If it can be something other than coolant ill take it over a rebuild right now! Lol! But I will be checking with rotary tomorrow!

Cool

If you don't see an obvious coolant leak(given that you had to top so quickly), then a coolant seal must have failed.

Coolant in oil is a freeze plug blown. There are two behind the front cover.

It is very unlikely a coolant seal in this case. There really are not many ways for water to get into the oil via coolant seal unless it was an outer coolant seal - on the bottom of the engine above the pan.

Ask me how I know.

@ 7dust now that you mention it, it did start happening right after the little winter storm we had on Christmas Day! If u don't mind me asking, what was the damage on that repair?!

I repaired it myself. Freeze plugs are less than 5 bucks each:
Atkins Rotary Specialties || Mazda Rotary Parts

You do not have to detension the block so technically you do not need to rebuild if it is a freeze plug.

The freeze plugs are cheap and if you want to deal with it you can fix any of them with the engine in the car. Sucks because you have to remove the front eccentric bolt and front cover to get to the ones over the oil pan. You will have to deal with the usual issuse of removing the eccentric bolt with the engine horizontal:
Front Pulley / Thrust Bearings

There are other freeze plugs on the engine but if they are leaking, they will leak externally to the engine and not in the oil. Do you have external water leaks?

Before someone else tells you, you really should keep antifreeze in your car. Worst case scenario is that the freeze plug didn't save the engine and the iron itself cracked.

@ 7dust no external leaks, I just bought the car frm my brother two months ago. He had it sitting under a tree for 21/2 yrs. so I did the normal fluid changes, gas, oil and replaced fuel filters! I didn't get to checking the coolant freeze temp and now I hope it's not gonna bite me in the a**! The radiator and over flow tank have always been green! So idk thx for the input it's been very helpful! Will you be attending the meet on Saturday?!

^^^ Didn't know there was a meet on Saturday. I probably can't make one this weekend anyway.

If you are not up to the repair technically then it shouldn't be hard to find a <STRIKE>sucker</STRIKE> - ummm someone local to help you out.

Hardest part is going to be getting that front bolt off and don't forget to wedge the clutch pedal in (since you have an FC) during the entire repair!
