Built my first Renny motor today!
I'm all sorts of jazzed. Finally built an Rx-8 motor today. Took me about 6 1/2 hrs to do it including bearing press time and minour clean up. Here's a link to the photos. Enjoy and let me know what you guys think.

Hey Brian, that's really cool. Neat pics. I didn't realize that the water seals were seated into the rotor housings instead of the plates. So all stock going back together? Those ports don't have the typical "BDC-was-here" look to them. :-P

Nope I didn't do any porting. Perhaps the next time I get to tear into one I'll do some experimentation. The owner wanted me to keep it stock. I don't blame him.
Yep, they moved the o-rings back into the rotor housings where they were ala old school RE's.

Hey Brian, I was wondering if the side and oil seals along with their springs and o-rings are interchangeable between the Renesis and older 13B RE's. Did Mazda make any changes to these parts? How about the oil pump and associated parts? :-P I'm curious.
