I know a few spot down there just across from galveston, there is a place near Port Bolivar, just east of fort travis state park, right at 87 and 17th street, 17th dead ends into the ocean, there is a bait shop there, and a man made jetty that goes way out.
I have caught all kinds of stuff, red fish, even a small shark, lot of crabs on the left side of the jetty.
I may be down there friday and saturday, mostly for surfing (suppose to be decent on saturday) but I always do some fishing. currently the water is kind of choppy, bay side might be your best bet.
check out www.gtownsurf.com they do a daily report down there on weather, surf, and the fishing, and they always have pics.

My family always goes to this place called Smith's Point. From there you can get to alot of places in Galveston Bay

there is a town called Rockport, about 30 miles or so from Corpus Christi. I was there with the family earlier this year, really nice place. The hotel was right on the waterfront. You walk out the door and right onto the pier. At night, they have lights that are underwater, and when they turn them on, it draws the fish in close. good spot for fishing around there, there are also public areas close by

It is so funny to see everyone going to these over fished spots..... You have to find some back road hot spots.

The 4th Public beach access on Surfside

The Broken Shirp boat on Bryan Beach < I have caught 3 30+ in reds there.

And sometimes San Luis pass bridge
