I can tell you what we did... Get the 10 point cage from S&W Racecars and modify it. Its about $250 plus shipping. It is bent and somewhat notched so that it will get you most of the way there. I can give you some tips from what we learned if you decide to go this route.

If you are tall, the key is to get the main hoop as high as possible. If I was doing this again, I mount the main hoop to the "shelf" at the front of the rear seat / bins area and not the floor board area. This will also give you more room to put the seat back. I'm 6'3 and I would like just a little bit more leg room.

The S&W cage only has 1 door bar per side (2 are needed on the driver door per LeMons) and no diagonal bar under the main hoop (as required) but its not hard to add them. When LeMons changed their roll cage rules mid-way through last season, we had to modify ours.

You will need to request 1 or 2 extra 5' tubes or so... Use one to double up the drivers door bar. I found that the main hoop is bent in such a way that its not practical to "X" the door bars but maybe you are more creative. You can then use the other extra bar you order to make the main hoop diagonal. I spliced it in by notching it where it crosses the harness bar.

Sweet, thanks for the info! Yea, I did some more reading on this thread and then went to S&W's site. They sell lemon roll cages now, for 315 plus shipping. But if the only difference is two bars, then Im going to look into the cheaper one for sure, lol. Hope to see you guys up here in June if we get accepted!

Go Ninja Squirrels!

^^^ Well how about that ****?

I didn't know they started doing that.

Their new door bar design is better than what we had to do - thats for sure. Looks like they altered the main hoop bend and even added two door bars for the passenger side too.

$315 is about right. I think I paid $60 for the additional tubes to make ours work. Hard to beat that price really.

Invite a few people over, put some on fire-puttin-out duty, have a few beers and get to sticking metal together... Good Fun!

It does help that your exhaust is pointed straight up in the air.

We have been selected for the following two and practically back to back events so here is the Team Sensory Assault Itinerary:

1-2 May 2010 (apps due on 20 Feb 2010)
Cain't Git Bayou (New Orleans LA)
The Circuit at Grand Bayou, Belle Rose LA

5-6 June 2010 (apps due on 27 March 2010)
North Dallas Hooptie (Dallas TX)
Eagle's Canyon Raceway, Decatur TX

As much as I TRIED and TRIED - I couldn't find enough interest for team members to enter a Second Car for Dallas! The plan now is to have it ready for MSR in September. We already have the car - we just need funds to prep the car - and probably 3 additional drivers. The three drivers we are looking for would be willing to put up some cash to prep the car (roll cage, seat, harness make the car run , etc ). This would be in addition to safety gear and entry fees.

Here is the car:

The car is a great candidate. It has a turbo drivetrain swap (and turbo engine) but from what I can see - it needs a turbo ECU, harness, injectors, fuel rails, and air flow meter.

Oh yeah - anyone in the Houston area that needs interior parts PM Me. There are other parts coming off the car too so look for a For Sale Thread soon.

Anyhoo - if you want in and are serious about putting some cash up to help safety prep the car, PM me.
