Exclamation [Houston] Blast Before the Summer Scenic Drive

Blast Before the Summer Scenic Drive

You have asked for it.. you have begged for it.. now here it is!

The club will be holding it's springtime drive just in time to beat the worst of the summer heat!

To make this as fair as possible, I have a few different days to offer for the drive. Please consult your calendars and decide what day is best for you.

The drive will start on the North side of Houston (somewhere near the Woodlands) and the destination is to be announced later. Expect 150-250 miles of driving over various types of (paved) roads. This drive will last anywhere from 3-6 hours and we will stop for lunch somewhere along the way.

We will appoint a couple of "lead" cars to manage the pace and direction of the caravan... but more about that later!

Check out the poll (located on the Houston Club website) and choose the best fit for you. You are able to select more than one option, but please only select the options that fit you best!

Thanks
Keith ~ Club President

At the meeting I am going to remind everyone there is about 10 days left to vote.

I think the final vote day is like the 13th or 15th.. but I am not certain.

The votes currently look like this:

Saturday, May 21st (Morning Start 9AM) 29.63%
Saturday, May 21st (Afternoon Start 2PM) 7.41%
Sunday, May 22nd (Morning Start 9AM) 22.22%
Sunday, May 22nd (Afternoon Start 2PM) 7.41%
Saturday, May 28th (Morning Start 9AM) 14.81%
Saturday, May 28th (Afternoon Start 2PM) 3.70%
Sunday, May 29th (Morning Start 9AM) 14.81%
Sunday, May 29th (Afternoon Start 2PM) 0%

(Votes as of April 30th)

But, yeah as of this point the 21st is looking like the date to beat.

I'll be in Houston the weekend of the 21st, but not with my rotary. Keith, which direction will you be heading? Any thoughts on where lunch will be? I'll be in Spring all weekend. It would be nice to hook up with you for lunch to see all the Houston guys.

We will probably meet somewhere on the northside (near the woodlands) and head north east or northwest depending on the route we choose.

Well the votes have been cast and the date is official - May 21st 2005 we will hit the twisty roads north of Houston.

I have learned however there is some dissention regarding the drive start time. So in other to accommodate as many club members as possible I would like to hear from you guys when the best start time would be. Logical start times should range from 9 AM to about 2 PM.

Take a moment and post when you can meet up with the club at the designated location (near the Woodlands Mall). I want to have this finalized by Friday night so everyone has plenty of time to prepare.

Visit the link below or email me directly.

And remember I need to hear from you by Friday evening, all responses after that will be moot.

Thanks,
Keith

So I guess there are just five of us that are going?

Note to all: I will only be sending the meeting location information to those who are responding to this thread.

Since the backroads we are travelling are something to be cherished and respected. The meeting location (or route) will not be sent to those who fail to respond to this thread. The last thing any of us want is someone out there blazing up the countryside pissing off all the sherrifs for the next time we cruise out there.

Thanks everyone for your responses!

Talking

Keith, if there are only five of us going on the drive, we could just take the Kia Sportage.

LOL...

A few more people responded to the primary thread on the local forum.

Looks like there are about 15 people planning to roll.

I might just rent a car.

Last Saturday night my coolant buzzer went off 1/2 mile from home. I drove home, watching the water temp. It went from 195 to 200. I shut it down. I haven't had time to troubleshoot it yet.

I am out.
