I'm also waiting on my new intermediate iron and turbo UIM/LIM to come in from Kevin Landers so I can finish rebuilding the engine. So for the past few days I've been completely cleaning and repainting everything. I just finished cleaning and repainting the new starter and TII front cover last night. The night before I completely cleaned and repainted my rotor housings - I found a piece missing and had to pull another one out of the garage, prep and clean and paint that one, so I figured I'd redo the other one also - plus the metalcast blue paint gets dirty too quickly, so I went with a high-heat bronze to match the whole theme of the car. now both bronze rotor housings are sitting under a couple of coats of high-heat clear.
I picked up my transmission from the transmission shop, so it's ready to go back on - I just ordered the new sensor I needed from Mazdaspeed today, along with a brand new center dash vent to replace the one I was missing.
I've also taken pictures of all the underhood area, so I can pull everything off and repaint the engine bay, and everything in it - I repainted the coilpacks in black and bronze.
So -Much much love to the rx7

Since I took some pictures of the cars today for the "WTF u look like" thread, I took some pictures of the progress on the rx7 -
So in response to giving the RX-7 more love, here's much love, with pics!
Cleaned irons, repainted rotor housings - (middle iron in picture is the bad one. :P New one should come in Wednesday, fer yayz.) For the record, the Colorcast paint didn't hold up like I wanted it to, so I went with a different color since I had it apart anyway. It matches my wheels.
Got a new starter in - now maybe I won't have to push the button like 4 times in a row to get it to turn over. I know it's not visible, but it had some rust starting so I went ahead and cleaned it all up, primered it and painted it.
Disassembled, cleaned and painted the leading and trailing coilpacks - for the record, make sure you pay attention to where the wires go, because I did a bad - luckily I found someone selling one on ebay with a lucky picture, so I was able to get it all back the way it should be without waiting for the rx7 meet.
I've also been cleaning and painting the miscellanous bracketry from the engine bay as I pull it off, but that's not interesting so I didn't take a picture of it - you can see some of it in the starter and coilpack shots - here are the leather seats from a 2002 Lincoln LS, already mounted and sitting on the rx7 seat rails. Some of you saw these in the car already. These were actually cheaper than the APC seats that lasted all of 4 months. It's alright though, the other APC seat is my Gran Turismo racing chair now.
If you did see the seats in my car, you may have noticed they were still sitting on that hideous blue carpet. Well, here's my answer to that: brand new custom charcoal gray carpet - the bins are black, but they'll get repainted and covered eventually - for now they seem to match closely enough.
If that wasn't enough fun - I also picked up a polyurethane master bushing kit from Prothane - my old rubber bushings are SO gone, I couldn't even tell what they were.
After all that, the turbo's on the shelf, tII LIM/UIM and TMIC are coming in Wednesday, and as soon as it's warmer, I'll finish stripping and painting the engine bay.
So my RX7 gets MAD love, like TROPHY WIFE love. I spend a lot of time, money, and energy making her look better and upgrading her parts, and she doesn't even have to work, just sit there and look pretty and put out occasionally.

Thank ya! I'm looking forward to the TII intake manifolds - because last time it was running I was like "Check it out! I painted my engine! Here, I'll pull these wires and hoses back, and if you look RIGHT through there with this flashlight, you can see it! Cool right?!"

Ahh, Turbocharged at long last - I picked up the turbo off e-bay for a pretty good deal, but it's been on the shelf for almost a year now... every so often picking it up, squirting a little bit of oil in it, and spinning it up with the hose from my compressor to hear that whine. If I aim the intake port at my face I can pretend I have the windows down.
And once the compressor turns itself on, if I put my ear on the tank so it's as loud as it can possibly be, I can pretend my engine's running. LOL!
