A good ECU will run you between $1,000 and $4,000 USD.

You will not absolutely need an ECU unless you install a different turbo, but an ECU would replace that S AFC (saving you $400), and do a much better job of running your engine. The ECU will also give you a readout of your engine's parameters, as well as datalogging.

Personally, I don't like chips because they cannot be tuned to your particular engine. However, if you don't know how to tune your engine, and don't want to pay someone else to tune it, then the chip is really your only choice.

So what options do the TII owners have for upgraded ecus? Chips from jet, superchips, etc. piggyback add ons like s-afc and itc. Tec II I guess would work. Right now I want to get a larger turbo and larger secondaries, whats the best setup for that to make 12 to 13 psi?

Right, its for the TII I plan on buying.

My friend has K@N cone intake, stock IC, downpipe, midpipe, and cat-back, underdrive pulley and a redom ecu tuned for a jap car but its running fine. ONly thing I told himto worry about it the timing might be advanced a little to much for US spec fuel since rumor has it they have higher octane over there (Not sure, just what everyone says.) The turbos have 160K on them and even though they spin decent, I know they are going to go at some point. At 10.5 psi roughly, he made 231 rwhp. I want to get a higher flowing stock turbo, and run 720 secondary injectors. I'm guessing I'll have to go with a upgraded pump and S-afc for fuel tuning? Any other suggestions?

Upgrading the stock turbo should allow you to run 16-17 PSI, but you'll need a front mount intercooler for that. You'll also have to worry about boost creep. I would try to run 720 primaries as well as secondaries. That can be done with a SAFC. Ted Koseki used to have 4 720's with a SAFC. He made about 250 RWHP with a stock mount IC.

I'm using the Supra pump with my T-78, and I have plenty of fuel. If you want to go with 550 primaries and 1600 secondaries--a popular setup--you'll need an aftermarket ECU. I saw that you mentioned the TEC II. I have one that I may be selling. If you're interested let me know.
