Xcessive LIM - Injector Setup

Hi Fellas,

not strictly single turbo but seemed the most relevant section for it. Am in the final stages of my build and am running an EFR8374 with the xcessive LIM and fuel rail. It is a track only car. Plan is to simplify the fuel system and run just 4 x injectors in the Xcessive LIM. Will be running E85 and chasing power in the 400-450 range.

Question is do I run all 4 injectors the same size or do I still stage them as per the factory setup. I am running MoTeC ECU so controlling them will be no issue.

Had planned to run 1000cc primaries in the centre injector locations to aid light throttle driveability and 2200 in the outers. Although I am being told that 4 x equal sized injectors and no staging might be a better option..ie no transition issues coming from the primaries on to the secondaries.

Gutfeel is a tuner should be able to work around either but dont want to make his life harder than it needs to be.

Any input appreciated.

I run the Xcessive LIM in my FD with a 13BREW. I run Injector Dynamics ID1000s for primaries and ID2000 for secondaries with a Haltech Platinum 2000. I am using the stock primary injector positions and the secondary positions on the Xcessive LIM (plugged the unused ports on the LIM). I am running race gas ~100 octane and tune for the 400-425 range; there is lots of fuel available (make sure to calculate for the E85). The tune has been transition-less with this setup. PM me if you would like the contact information for my tuner. He is a good resource for just this kind of information.

Cheers,

Guy

For best power, drive-ability, and atomization you should always have the injectors as close to the engine cylinder or in our case rotor housing as possible. Atomization is quite good on newer injectors but I would still suggest that you put the primaries in the primary spots and the secondaries in the secondary location.

The reason why you want the primaries close to the actual intake ports is that at low RPM the air velocity is low, if the injectors are far away from the intake ports you will end up just wetting the intake walls with fuel rather than injecting it into the motor.

I would run 1000c primaries in the center iron. Putting them closer will allow better atomization and a better idle. I've never had a good idle on cars running just injectors in the lim. For E85 I would recommend 4 2000cc secondary injectors. There is really no downside to going big with these so its better to give yourself extra room if you plan to push the boost in the future. I stock ev14s in all sizes if you need anything.

Thought I would chime in. I am running id1000 and id2000 in the LIM and have not noticed any problem with my idle. I am running a Micro wreck but it I can idle it all the way down to 750 if I want, but I don't have an idle control valve to I keep it around 950-1000. My injectors holes in the center iron are blocked off. Just my 2 cents.

Ideally you want to have the primaries closer to the motor. Not saying that what you have won't work, it really depends on what you are used to and what your expectations are.

This might be a dumb question but how do you run 6 injectors? I have 850cc primaries and 1650 secondaries and was looking into the LIM. My thought was to plug the two ports on the new manifold. I would be interested in running 850cc primaries and 4 2000cc secondaries to open up the options for high boost in the future.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the input fellas. Am going to try 4 x 1650cc in the lim and see how we go. If idle is problematic we will look to put two back in the primary location. Hopefully have it on the dyno soon.

Where do you buy injector port plugs to be able to run that setup?

Get the injection timing and throttle pump setting correct and it will work well.

I have the xcessive manifold and Full Function rail with 4 injectors.

I haven't run it yet. But fits well.
