why rx7 intercoolers cost so much?

Im jsut curious why the fc and fd intercooler kits cost so much. I understand the cores might be a little bigger and takea few more bends, but why are 240sx/silvia intercooler kits going for 550 retail while rx7 ones retail above $1000?

I bought my car from a friend that had already put a greddy fmic for my t2. It doesnt even come with a bov flange and its made as if the brake mc is on the other side.

It just seems like a big jump in price. Who's making good intercooler cores, it might even be cheaper to go to a custom fabrication shop to custimize one for your application.

the greddy kit is RHD, i have it and it works fine. i dont think they come any other way. you just have to shorten it a bit.

Yeah, I ended up cutting a little bit off mine too. Too bad I dont have a piping beader. Because of cutting it I need a slightly longer silicone coupler. Mine barely fits at the edges, its a little scary. Also, the transition hoses are cheap, they crack. For the price of this intercooler i would expectsilicone transition couplers. Also the mounting for the intercooler is solid to the radiator support. It would b nice if a company had a rubber bushing to allow some chasis flex. My intercooler cracked at the top and needs to be rewelded.

Everything works ok, but I would expect more for something that retails over 1000

Well, I figure most oem intercoolers would b mounted with rubber bushings to allow some give. I bought my car from a friend that had bought the fmic already.
I just had to cut the intake pipe shorter to clear the brake MC, change out the transition couplers to silicone ones, and weld on a bov flange. Ive seen these kits retail over 1000. For the price I would expect a BOV flange, rubber mounts, and silicone transition couplers.

If I had to start all over again, I could make my own custom fmic kit

Thanks for the offer. I can tig weld myself, but I dont have a tig welder in my garage. I'll either go to my old work , or use the school's welder. Good looking out. Thanks

Its more my fault, but still I would like a rubber mount or something to allow more flex. Especially for the price of these intercoolers

When I used to have a 240sx I noticed greddy kits being about 500 retail. Im just wondering why greddy charges more than double retail of the silvia FMIC kits
