Who is running a SS Flex joint on their Downpipe ??

Just wondering if anyone has done this mod. to their downpipe to reduce any stress on exhuast housing of turbo etc.....

I'm thinking about fitting one into my new dp.

Don't need to unless you're exhaust system is hard mounted?

FWD's need it cause the engine "roll over" their downpipes.

i have one connecting my dp to the rest of the exhaust, really seems to work good for me, bought mine out of jcwhitney for like 30 bucks, something like 8" long

Yeah, I think I'll order one. On my last turbo exhaust housing cracked. I think it was a crappy casting but I'm sure if I had a flex it may have held up longer.

So, if I got a 6" flex where is the ideal location on the downpipe ?

i had mine done sine i had the RB full tII exhaust system and it was a bit low and bottemed out and cracked my old downpipe

Flex joints are a GREAT idea, regardless if your exhaust is hard or soft mounted. It will reduce stress to your turbo and your most likely expensive turbo manifold. Think of your exhaust as a HUGE breaker bar bolted to your turbo. I can't seem to find a 3.5" flex joint though

I am building my custom dp setup now and the flex pipe is 35 bucks at summit. Thanks for the heads up
