White paste in Oil filler. Normal?

I've noticed that I am getting a white oil film almost a paste build up in my oil filler neck. It wasn't like that before. Or at least not in the quantities as it is now.

Is this normal? If not what is the cause?

Thanks,

Ian

Change your oil filter and oil and and check them again after driving for a while. Also is your coolant level been affected at all?

You can search and find this is pretty common. It will be worse when the weather turns cold. You will get condensation forming in the fill neck that will turn white when it comes in contact with oil. Usually not an issue. Unless you're losing coolant it's nothing to worry about.

could be coolant but most likely just water, condesation is the common cause

As stated above it's condensation.....unless the oil in your pan looks like cream as well then you have bigger problems.

Thanks guys. I talked to my mechanic and he said normal. Funny that its that much goo and that I never really paid much attention to it. There was a slight white colour before on the oil filler cap but never like this paste.

Oil looks normal.

take care..............

It's still contamination either way you look at it. Water forms and runs down the neck into the oil pan. That can't be a good thing. I wonder if we shortened the oil fill tube to just a stub if it would still happen?
