What turbo setup

I don't think you can hit 500whp @15psi either. The only things that might get you even somewhat close and still be able to spool prior to 6000rpm would be a GT42R or GT45. But I really don't think that the 42R can hit 500whp at that boost level. I have seen it put down just under 700whp at much higher boost levels though. I think you are asking for the improbable though. Sorry.

Looks like you might be able to get close to those numbers with a T04R. Speedmachine has a customer car with 486HP@15psi. Theres not much info on the car though. I didn't know the T04R was capabe of such high HP at that boost.

Both dyno sheets for that FD and the 13B-RE FC that made 460rwhp at 13.2psi are on the wall in our shop. The FC was on 110 octane. The bottom FD was on 91 octane. The cars listed there all have dyno sheets. Not everyone exaggerates. Matter of fact, those numbers are on a mustang dyno, which are known for low numbers. Ask anyone that has been to my shop and they'll tell you the proof is on the walls.
The T04R is a very good turbo. The 42R is a bit laggy, but great for top speed driving or drag racing, or if you are just looking for a max output number. I am a fan of the T04R and T04S (60-1) for street FD's.
Goodfella is right too. Most people would agree that after driving a 400hp FD is a fun ride. The majority of our customers love 350-400hp. It's cheap to do compared to 500+hp and is more fun than 255hp stock and more reliable if done right.

Damn Dave, those are respectable numbers... Why aren't people flying your *** all over the place to tune their cars instead of Steve Kan? Not to bash Kan or anything but I don't think I've seen anyone else pull off 486HP @ 15psi.

I am not a tuner. We do basic tuning at the shop, through my head mechanic, and I am capable of getting cars to idle and throttle well, but I am by no means a tuner. I am an engine builder. My head mechanic ran a dyno for about a year or a little more, but the most involved ECU he worked with was a PowerFC. If you had a Honda, he could tune your car easliy We do use a UEGO to dial in cars to get them streetable prior to them leaving, but that is mostly to drive them in and out of the shop until either the customer picks up the car, or we drive it on in the trailer to go to our tuner. We use Danzio Performance to do all of our tuning. He travels, but he isn't cheap. He is also one of the reasons that our rotary engine in the Falken FD ran all last year without problem when every other car in the Falken camp went through at least one engine swap during the year of drifting comp. And people say that rotaries aren't reliable... One of the S13's went through 6 engines in 2005!
Now I will admit that the 486 @ 15psi was on a dynojet, which are known for making high dyno numbers. Most "hardcore" tuners use Mustang Dyno's because they allow you to tune better with loads. They always read lower than dynojet or dynapack's do. He has tuned TONS of cars and dune buggies that have left my shop, and every one is still running to this day and every customer is as happy as it gets.
So anyway, if you live in southern California, or want to setup a dyno session, then give Chris a call at his shop. He is one of the owners of the shop, and he is awesome with any car, any engine and any ECU. 951-245-2537
