That was not much.... I am running 19 psi (1,3 bar) and has doing that for some time now..???
15 psi for a T51 is not enough...?? It has to have at least 16 psi just to be alive...

It all boils down to the load on the motor. 19psi on a single? That's way too much on pump gas if it's your garden-variety 93 octane. Pump gas is highly unreliable -- ever wonder why so many motors are popping left and right?

you talking about a t04b or a t88?
airflow is infinately more important than boost pressure, although the associated heat and stress does come into play.
a more accurate question for this thread would be more like "how much hp can i get on pump gas?"

I run 18 psi on pump gas when i has the T04R kit. I made 406 hp and 330 tq with that setup. I did run with that setup for 1 ½ year until I did buy the T51. I have now the T51 kai kit and was thinking to raise the psi a little.
We have tryed with 18 psi, and the engine did not sound troubled at all. I have to say that it is not the american fuel I am using. I run with the European fuel. But I have read that the american fuel is a bit better than the european.

The most HP I've seen on pump gas was around 450rwhp, on 93 octane, without water or methanol injection. Lots of tuners tune most engines with most turbos to 15psi on pump gas, and that's considered by many to be "safe" (although not by all). I'll let you know how trying for 15psi on 91 octane (AKA California Urine Cocktail) goes in a month or two.
Basically what everyone's going to say is that there's a lot of details that go into how much HP/boost you can run on pump gas. What kind of HP are you looking to get?

You are probably technically correct in re-stating the question but much of it is automatically lumped into the street port/TO4B, typical 400rwhp @ 15psi category that fits a seeming majority of the folks here. When I go out on my tuning trips to do cars, I try and take every single aspect of that into play instead of just using a single, arbitrary point of boost like "13psi" or "15psi". The larger turbos I won't comfortably tune as high on pump. The octane of pump gas makes a large difference. The altitude makes a tremendous difference. A bridgeported turbo motor won't see me going to 15psi on a large turbo without raising some stink. That kind of thing ...

bdc i ssee you mentiod how altitude can effect a tune... take me for instance, my car was tuned in atlanta but i will shortly be bring it back home to ny, is that a signoficant change in alitutde to warrent a re-tune? how does the atmosphere effect the tune *cliff notes version for the threads sake*
