Question what do you guys think of this Turbonetics T60-1 Hifi

I was running a Steve Kan Street tuned Garret T60-1 non Hifi that burnt up. Was pushing over 400 Rwhp at 16 psi of boost.

Now I'm replacing that turbo with this Turbonetics T60-1 Hifi. Guy says that it will have a 62-1 Compressor wheel. I wanted to go with this bec. I was very satisfied with my previous setup. So, wanted to keep a similar setup. Only diff. now is the Hifi and a smaller Exhaust housing. Exhaust housing will be a step down from the .81.......I believe its a .70.

Just wondering if anyone had any insight on this particular turbo. I already ordered this one at $760. shipped to my door.

i'd be pretty skeptical of using a hot side that small on a rotary. you may run into reversion issues, then boom.

Well, I'm gonna try it out. I do have a spare Turbonetics .81 housing that I can swap it out with if I don't like the perf. It should spool better than the .81 and no overall power loss as I don't plan on going over 16 psi. We shall see.

it says .96 ON -CENTER. It wont mate up to your existing down pipe if thats what it comes with. I persoanally would just stick the .81 from your old turbo, just slap her on the new. Your already tuned for that housing, YES changing out housings sometimes requires another tunning session. You should be getting great spool as is with the .81. Also, its listed incorrectly, its not a HiFi, just a standard T04S 62-1. The HiFi is a 60-1 wheel in a T04B compressor housing using a smaller .6 A/R and 2.5"~2.3/4" inlet and 2" disscharge. The T04S housing is more suitable for that compressor wheel and flows up tp 10% more. Great turbo choice, as long as you stick with a .81. Double check that their sending you a P-Trim turbine, I didn't see it in the auction.

At what RPM were you seeing 16psi? Just curious about spool times with a streetport. Thanks in advance.

i have the same compressor with a T3 .84 hot side, it might be similar to the .70 T4 set-up...so i'll be watching for your results to compare...

i dynoed 430 whp in 3rd gear @ 21 psi... (should be 450+ in fourth) ...

virtually no lag... (full boost at 3000rpm) ... I'm extremlly happy with my set-up....the "downside" is you will need more boost to get the numbers...

NO lag is what I'm lookin at. As long as I'm in the 400 + Rwhp @ 16 psi

something wrong...

He got this turbo installed Friday and on Saturday it blew on the way home from a rotorhead party. I was asked to test drive it since I knew how the previuos turbo ran. There is something wrong as this would quick spool @ 5,000 RPM in 1st and @ 4600 under load in third. This is too small of a turbine @.70 and brand new to be this slow. He said it came with a restrictor which is installed. It didnt make 48 hours . TurboMark7 T66 .81 out spools this thing.
Please jump in with some ideas. I do not know if he has a pressure release and recover can for the block.

sounds like a bunk rear turbine seal. i killed my 62-1 once and it spooled right around 5krpm... sucks cuz i never dyno'd it after i fixed it... would liked to have seen the power come in earlier.
