What clutch for ~450-500 hp

Just as stated, im going to be in the area of 450 500 max come next year and im in the process of having my tranny freshened up so i figured i might as well replace the clutch. So was i was thinking the ACT street/strip clutch but i am not married to it.. i dont really plan on taking my car to the track much or at all but i do like my spirited driving. Any recommendations ?

Great i guess i will look into the spec stage 3 clutch then,, also sorry this is a little off my original topic, but when i dropped my transmission the other day.. (take not everything on the car i got was half assed) I think i am missing some things.. im not sure how to explain it and maybe i can get pictures later.. anychance anyone would have a picture of the under side of their car so i can use it as a reference.. thanks again

Also when taking my exhaust off i was inspecting and it was a Trust exhaust and it had a couple slash type symbols,i searched but couldnt find too much information is this any good or should i look into something else, im running a T78 turbo with a street ported motor. Just trying to figure out exactly what i have and what i need to get everything together.

it would probably hold for alittle bit, depending on driving habit. i would put some money aside for a new clutch. good luck

take it back. Clutch wont hold 500+ !! I have less than 3k on it, no drag racing either. Just got it dialed in within the last 2 months. Kinda pissed as spec told me it would hold 500lbs of torque!

At the engine, but not at the wheels.

Well when a clutch company says a clutch will hold x-amount of torque it means at the clutch itself, not the wheels. They don't know exactly what your drivetrain losses are going to be and therefore cannot speculate to what the clutch will hold at the wheels in a specific car. At rx7store it says the clutch has a torque capacity of 520 ft.lbs. This would only be 442 rwhp if you guessed at a 15% drivetrain loss.

Buy a Mcleod Clutch

All the really fast cars run these clutches and they are well worth the cost.

Good Luck.

They may have told you that but you were mis-informed. When I spoke to Spec regarding these clutches, we specifically went over the flywheel vs. RWHP issue. They say that all their measurement are at the flywheel. Therefore, the Spec stg. 3+ is rated at 598 FLYWHEEL TRQ. Just wanted to help clarify things for you guys

If your going 6 puck, get a sprung. It will help in drivetrain shock, your rear might thank you.

whoever said ACT street strip... NOOOO

I have one and it does not hold up to my 420whp . the clutch is basically shot and I am looking to get a beefier clutch. Street / strip lasted less than 10k miles
