Went single and lost horsepower

Pistons are for pussy's
Post some 60-1xx vids, that will give you a better idea of actual power. Dyno's are tuning tools, cant be too concerned with dyno numbers they all read different.

Here are 2 silly vids I made tonight. Sorry for the low quality. I promise I will get some better ones once I find someone to record. The vids were taken on a VERY slight downhill. Second one was basically flat. I have 4.3 rear gears btw with 275/35/18 rear tires. The speedo is prob off.

This is my FC @ around 300-320 rwhp...
87 rx7 1st-3rd pull - YouTube
I let off halfway through 3rd but it seems like I'm going through it quicker than yours? This setup trapped 109 with a slipping clutch so you might be around 350 rwhp?

Your ripping through 1st-3rd gear so it def seems like your faster, but thats cause your starting in lower gears and constantly in your power band. To do a comparison we'll have to compare e.g 50-100mph in the same gear.
Thanks for the vid tho, your car sounds sick!
Thanks, that helps compare things.

Hey. I'm only new here but having been playing with rotors for a while. I had the same issue when I went to a t66 and it was choking up. Would not make any more power over about 360whp and that was at 18psi on a turbo bridge port. I had a 3" dump, 60mm gate with screamer, 6" 100cpi metallic cat, 3" system with an offset magnaflow muffler. I thought this would be sufficient but evidently it was not. I hollowed out the cat and stuck a 3" straight through rotaflow muffler on it and went 422rwhp at the same boost same Dyno. That was a 60rwhp net gain from remiving cat and changing muffler. Rotors dislike any exhaust back pressure. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case it helps. Good luck with it mate.

I have been meaning to remove the muffler and see what the butt dyno says but I am in process of moving to DC for grad school. When I visit L.A soon its on my to do list. Ill take another vid on the same road for comparison
The funny thing about this all is that I brought my E39 M5 to DC as my DD and it too is having output issues. Luckily on a stock car like that there are only a few common issues causing low hp lol.

Careful with the butt Dyno. Monitor your af's and boost when you dump the exhaust. If the system has back pressure you will more than likely run leaner and more boost.

I changed the catback to a less restrictive feed sonic ti unit and the car certainly feels quicker. Had to adjust the afr's also. I wouldnt say its 400+whp but prob 390-400whp and im fine with that now. Car runs great and pulls super clean. Its enjoyable and anymore power would push the limits at track without r-comp tires.
If I wanted to free up more power, I would vent the wastegate and gain another 20whp.

Armen, IMHO a 40-50whp gain seems really optimistic with just a catback upgrade. I'd be curious to see what the dyno numbers are now with the Feed exhaust. For people interested in this thread, Armen's friend, forum member Pandaz, put down 410whp at 15psi with the same catback Armen used to have, with the same engine builder, on the same exact dyno, but running an A-Spec 500r kit. How much did the AFRs change with the catback swap?
I believe so.

Hey Aristo,
You may be right, could just be the placebo effect. AFR was around 11.4 after the exhaust change now its ~11.2 after adding some fuel. Im back in 2 weeks and wouldnt mind dyno'ing one last time. Ill def give you a call.
Another thing to note, my re-route angle and location isnt optimal. That could be another factor.

It will be great to see you again, and to see what numbers the car can put down. Please let me know if/when you go to Gazo's to dyno!
