executive summary:

let's call the war over and get back to biz.

o k, so we ALL have had our thermo-nuclear exchanges. the earth is scorched...

we are on these sites because we have a COMMON sickness/interest. kicking *** w the rotary. which it does if properly prepared.

Auxiliary Injection is the KEY to making all the other systems work just like in our dreams.

AI is a big tent.

everything i know, i learned during my 22 years of racing. one of those things is that EVERYONE at the track knows SOMETHING i don't know.

it was true then. it is true now. so let's find out what we know and do some exploring together.

the enemy is the piston. not fellow rotorheads.

so let's everyone relax and do our best to exploit any and all avenues of AI. if we do that it is WIN WIN for all.

i appreciate, for example Rice disclosing how much ( actually V meth little) water he runs. i am humbled by what Chrispeed is up to and thanks for the disclosures. it just shows how twisted the human mind can get.

i am going to design a 4 nozzle AI log/rail this winter that will fixture to the inside near the top of the FD LIM. why waste injectant cooling the UIM, throttle body and elbow when it can expend it's negative BTUs in the combustion chamber. plus much better distribution. others are encouraged to build it before i do. it would sit right above the secondary rail. yes, a solenoid would be needed since it would see vacuum.

right now though, i am just riding an early learning curve. like many. btw, it's fun

so let's ALL get back to sharing info, there's plenty of room for ALL under the AI tent.

Did the alky/meth thread get deleted? If so, that sucks because it actually had some decent info in between the A-bombs.

All of the flame war BS needs to stop now. The main parties concerned with this have already been talked to. If it continues then 1 week bans will result as the next step.

These threads have a lot of good info in them, so now just cut out the BS and keep posting solid info in here. It's flame wars like this that drive the experienced guys away from this forum.

BoostedRex, how do we go about getting a new sub-forum started? I know I'm not the only one who sees a great value in the topic at hand. It is certainly a performance upgrade unique enough, and certainly broud anough, to warrant it's own section. It would help tremendously in the rotary community. This is a powerful addition to any rotary that really needs to be better understood.

Do we need to start a petition or something? I'm sure you can count everyone involved in any of these threads as signing that.

Please let me know what I can do to help this effort along.

Thanks
ryan

As long as it stayed objective, I would be in for it too... But people have to be willing to see all sides.

I'll go ahead and get the ball rolling to start an AI sub forum. I'll say this up front though. There will be substantial moderator involvement in that forum until all of this childish behavior has stopped. 1 warning and then a 7 day ban for anyone who feels the need to start up the same old BS arguments again.

It seems so.

They should have just deleted the personal attacks and leave the rest of the info on.
Let's hope the 'AI' sub forum comes through. If not we could just make a thread 'Sticky' for the 'water/alcohol inj' users.

Like I said there is a MOUNTAIN OF REAL RESULTS out there of which I can help any real enthusiast with, feel free to go on ausrotary.com and do a search you will find great data on the best rotary reliability solutions. The tech reference thread there on water injection is a good starting point for basic knowledge on the subject, you can search my user name and find a multitude of links and DATA and RESULTS covering water injection.......... Hope some of you in your part of the world get to have the same level of reliability and power we have enjoyed for over 10 years now.

Good luck in your persuits and good bye

Water Injection resource links:

http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/for...ic.php?t=38929

http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/for...c.php?t=113332

When aquamist site is back up will give some links to their great data base of information........ again as a parting message to all people who are interested in results. This is a very passionate area of mine, I make **** all money from it and its not my most profitable part of my rotary activities BUT I have helped MANY MANY people across the world, over a lot of years to achieve the same level of happiness as I have, running a high HP pump fueled rotary's with the addition of water injection. Many of those people have gone on them selves to be mentors to others and passed the true knowledge base down to a new generation of rotary enthusiast. This makes me very happy to see people enjoying their cars and not going broke while doing it, its why I share my own knowledge.

Peace to you all.

Good info links. Where would you find a air/water atomizer and can you put it in line with an existing WI kit? I'm guessing it wouldn't be a problem.

edit: I don't think this would fit http://www.proptec.com/ia_pt100.cfm

Awesome! Thanks SO much for your help BoostedRex. I have no problem with the warning/ban idea you proposed, in fact, I'd rather prefer it. There is a lot of good information out there, and no point cluttering it with personal BS. Again. . .THANKS!

Peter,

Thank you for posting up those good links for WI info. This is what the forum needs. The people who know the most sharing their knowledge with everyone else.

Now hopefully the new AI sub forum will come online soon. I'm still working to get it created in the Tech and Performance area of this forum.

This is a little off topic but I made a post on the deleted thread right before it was gone so I thought I'd put it here. It was in response to something you said or asked about how to test and know whats really going on in the engine or something along those lines. Well the answer is thru some failry new technology of measureing chamber pressure with a optical sensor that can be inserted into a sparkplug. It monitors the chamber pressure at each degree of crank angle, its all datalogged, and you can see exactly what the internal combustion process is doing real time in your engine. It cant be used to see which is most benificial, water, alky, meth, nitro, ect you can use it to determine which timing is best...what happens when you set trailing timing to this degree instead of this other degree....see actual detonation occure and know exactly when it started.

To me, measuring actual chamber pressure by degree is the end all solution to knowing what is going on inside the engine and comparing various fuels, and tuning settings.

Its not for the daily driver kinda guy though, its somewhat expensive....but to me if I had a race team I would definitly have it. I believe the cost of one race engine would pay for it. They dont currently make have thier software geared towards rotary, however I taked to the guy last year and he said he would adapt it for rotaries if someone had all the information he needed. Which was basically what is the chamber volume at each degree of crank angle (I had no idea, but Im sure someone out there does).

Here is the company that offers that http://www.tfxengine.com/

i'm also curious where people found the best atomisers for WI. personally, i plan on building my system with the capability to run anything i want, but primarily, i will probably be running water since it is VERY hard to source methanol here. that being said, i need something that is able to atomise water very well. any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Stephen.
I'm aware that there are actually a couple of companies or ways to measure actual chamber pressures etc. but like you said I was commenting on a cheap, practial way for the average person to do so. Without the fancy equipment then you'll have to stick to what's available to the average me and you people.
We just have to rely on Knock, AIT and EGT monitoring.

Scott,

Have not talked to you in a while. We are now running the verion 3 Flash of our controller. Version 3 was just released today and gives us the ability not only to inject based on input (boost, 0-5V or 2d mode) but now gives us the ability to correct for it. I would greatly appreciate your input on what you would like to see (even though you are going to get a different system).

we are currently able to correct for and inject based on Boost, Maf/TPS, EGT, AIT. we will shortly have wideband correction as well. All of this is built into the flash for the controllers we are selling now, we are toying with the idea of writing the application to exploit that. If you have ideas please let us know. We are working on an RX-7 Specific Direct Port kit (we just bought the manifold today), with this kit we would like to add some of the things I spoke above. Please Call, email or PM us with any ideas or suggestions.

Thanks!

Ive recently been looking for an ignition upgrade, and I stumbled across this...

http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fdignition.html

It says one of the additional features is a dedicated tachometer output, would this be in a 0-5V format, I was wondering whether it could be used with the varicool for an rpm input?

If it gave a 0-5V out, yes. However, I seriously doubt it does. If it gives a pulse output we could do it by counting the pulses. It really depends on what the output is. If you want plug and play it would need to be 0-5V, if its just for us to count the pulses, we need to write that into our flash.

FYI, RPM is not the best way to do what you want to do. I would prefer MAF or TPS over RPM anyday. If you need to use RPM to calculate INJ Duty Cycle then yes its a good tool. If you just want to turn the meth/water on at a specific RPM, I would not recommend it. For cars that have a MAF, it would be a better way. Throttle Position is good as well.
