VP Racing Fuels: StreetBlaze?
Hey guys, I'm currently running about 1 bar of boost on my Greddy T88 on 93 pump gas, but i'd like to run more boost (the turbo would be much happier closer to its efficency range). I really only have a couple option, meth/alcohol injection or higher octane fuel. I guess i could also do a combination of both.
Anyway, i found a local supplier for VP racing fuels and was curious about the streetblaze line. What do you think of the Streetblaze with an R+M/2 octane of 103? What do you think a safe level of boost would be on this fuel?

It takes more of this fuel to create the same energy as regular gasoline. Therefore your car will use more fuel and you will see a decrease of approximately 10-15% in fuel economy. To make big horsepower you will need more fuel pump and more injector. Many people state that the fuel is corrosive and it could have adverse effects on aluminum fuel rails, injector o-rings and fuel lines. But so far in 9 months of testing we have seen no such side effects.
Even at $2 dollars a gallon your going to be using about twice the amount of fuel when you swithch to alcohol. Guys have been using alcohol & methanol for quite sometime now. It may be cheaper but the downside is you will be spending more because you are going to have to burn up more. That's like my buddy when he switched over from running C16 fuel to alcohol he went from running 4 1600cc injectors to running 8 1600cc injectors. Benifits are you can run higher boost levels safer and with no intercooler, but you will be using a shitload more fuel. So the $2 a gallon for alcohol quickly works out to $4 or even more a gal equivalent for fuel. Kind of misleading if you don't know what your working with. Toluene or xylene can be found almost anywhere Home Depot, Lowes or any paint store will have it. Beats paying $50 for 5gals of race fuel. Just my 2 cents.

FYI: My friend tried the toluene and his motor popped with an afr of 10.8.
I personally wouldn't touch it unless it's proven like C16 or Alcohol. I don't know anyone using toluene on a high hp rotary, do you?

E85 could be used and you wont be burning up twice as much as with straight alcohol. It also wont give you the corrosiveness of methonal either. That said even $4gal is better than $8-12

I like to run a higher octane all the time, streets and strip. I don't put that many miles on my car at all, I only drive it on average 3-4 days per month, more in the summer, less in the winter.
I want to stay away from leaded gas. Maybe water/meth injection is the way to go, but i'd like to hear from anyone that is running that streetblaze gas, as I don't want to be the one to find its limits.

I found two places here in the washington metropolitan area that have E85. Anyone here have tried this fuel? would anyone recommend it for daily driven at 19lbs boost and water injection?

I just called them here in Arlington Va and they had this fuel for a little over a year now. Do you think that the tanks have been cylced enough? The price is currently at $2.72 per gallon. Thats not to bad for 113 octane. Or is 113?
E85 is 100-105 octane according to all the web sites run by the companies selling it.
If you want to push it on unleaded get some VP Motorsport 109
MOTORSPORT 109
Produces more power than any other unleaded fuel. Recommended for higher boost applications with CRs up to 11:1 or naturally aspirated engines up to 13:1.
• Color: Clear
• Motor Octane: 101
• R+M/2: 105
• Research Octane: 109
• Oxygenated: Yes
• Specific Gravity: .722 at 60° F
Prepare to spend a good $6-$7 a gallon on it though. C16 isn't much more.

It's a buck less than 87 octane and according to their test it uses 15% more fuel, so it seems a rotary could run 20-22 psi safely on gas that's cheaper than 87 octane.
Can't wait to see someone test this on a rotary.

I'd love to give the E85 a shot, i think there are a few pumps in Indy that have it now. I just need someone to tune it for me. 20 psi on a T88 with cheap fuel would be nice.
