turbo recommendation?

i want to get a large aftermarket turbo, not happy with the S5 hi-flo.

what spec/brand turbo spools up as early as possible, whilst producing about 300rwHP?...
i'll happily settle for less top end power, if it means i gain low end zip.
the garrett roller bearing turbos seem perfect, but cost a squillion.

i have been offered a hybrid turbo (TO4 /66 HKS front .70 single step intake 1.32 P trim IIRC) at what rpm should this turbo produce boost? is it too big for my needs? those specs r gibberish to me...

if only the FD twin sequentials weren't so impossible to maintain...tho that is the kind of delivery i'd like to emulate. custom twins occurred to me, but also seem restrictive price wise, everything'd have to be one off = $$.

thanks 4 any replies,
Perry Gehenna

That turbo seems a bit large for what you want, a smaller T04E like the XS kit would seem like a better choice, quick spool up and ~370RWHP.

Perry - When you say 300rwhp to an American, it is different to an Australian. 300rwhp on a dyno dynamics is equal to around 250rwhp.

The turbo you can get is to big in the exhaust. Go down to a 1.15 housing and it will be spot on.

What are you talking about? Are dynos not accurate?

Aussie dynos read differently than US dynos.

I was talking to Pete last week about T04s and he showed me a very similar one to that only it had a TO4E front, but the rest of the specs were the same and he said it would start to spool around 3500rpm.

see if you can find a turbo in these specs and see how it goes. it'll rip you a new **** until you hit arounf 7000rpm

T04 0.84A/R Divided exhuast housing, P trim Turbine. T04 57 Trim compressor wheel. 0.70A/R compressor housing

should spool hard by around 2500 - i mean 10psi+

should go nuts, but you wont have the top end pulling power of a larger exhuast housing with a larger compressor

hmm

300 rwhp is not that hard to achieve. Look at the Apexi Isamu turbo kit, that thing spools really early and should easily give you the power you are asking for. Just make sure that you can get fuel to the engine as well.. ie upgraded fuel pump and Injectors. My GReddy T-78 spools really early, but is probably overkill for what you are asking for. That, and it is much harder to install than the Apexi kit. Hope this helps!

Question Best set up for 400rwhp?

What your opinion for the best turbo set up that yields around 400rwhp. I think i could settle for less if i did some BPU mods along with a front mount IC. Also whats your experiance with this kind of horsepower? Hows the reliability of the car? I dont have a seven yet but if i do its going to be my daily driver. I just want a kit that will beat the BPU supras and hang with some other things. Please tell me all the factors to consider. Also prices are good.

hint: he is in aussie, you dont just buy 'off the self bolt on kits' in aussie man, you get the exact specs of the turbo you want, head along to your local turbo place and get piece the beastie together for you, you then find the nearest competent fabricator and get him to make an exhuast manifold for you, then you go to the nearest hydrolink place (high pressure fluid fittings) and get the oil and water piping sorted out for it, then you go back home and fit the thing, then you crack open a slab of **** and kick back on the couch laughing madly as you think about the $1500 or so you just saved yourself by getting it all made instead of buying an 'off the self kit' like they do in the US..............

just my 2 cents worth of the car modifying scene downunder compared to the scene in the US

T04E 57 trim compressor with a p-trim turbine wheel in a .81 undivided or a .84 divided turbine housing.
T04B H-3 compressor with the above turbine section would also satisfy your needs!
