My next piece to tackle is the IC placement. Ive turned against a vmount. Mainly because I have a sweet *** aluminum stockmount radiator now lol.

However I am concerned about the length of the IC piping to go all the way around the radiator for a front mount. Does anyone have any noticeable lag due this ? I will be using a T04E, not exactly a monster.

Mine sits right in front if the radiator. We cut out slots on either side of the bracket and slid it in. 32x12.5x3.5 no lag, full boost at 3600 rpm

You only have one of the most notorious rx7 shops in the world located right in the Netherlands, and they make fuel injected throttle bodies for rotary. (PPRE)

Rx7, Rx8, Mazda Rotary Engines, O ring, Race Car Engine Parts

Universal Large Intercooler Oversize 31X12X4 Coresize 24X12X3.5 3" Inlet and Outlet AND Universal Intercooler Piping Kits 12 PCS 3"DIY

229 with free shipping if you slow-boat it.
I have this same kit at the shop for a drag car. We used on mine to allow me to keep my a/c intact, just had to cut and weld a couple of the pipes

That is my intent as well. To keep my a/c intact.

sorry didnt word that very well.we do have injection perfection.and pulse performance dont make there there throttles they use EFI Hardware also from austraila.would pick that everytime over the injection perfection but comes at a decent price for the 55mm with throttle linkage is almost $1600nzd injection perfection 50mm $1200nzd approx .why i even asked was in one of the OP post he worded it as "just a borla" made me think it was off a oem car over your ways and was considered a junkyard part.thought i was onto a cheap injected throttle that might have been able to source over ebay or something haha.

ohh and also to keep lag to a min your turbo discharge is 2 1/2" if im correct so you could run your piping with that instead of 3".makes a noticeable difference.also doing it like thorage327 says through side of radiator mounts you will find your piping isnt all that long.

Here is the car I question. My son claims it as his. The second picture is the current state. Had to get a new radiator. 150 shipped from Amazon! Just have to shorten hoses, since I went from a stock single core to this 3 core monster

That is what I was working on today. The mounting method for the intercooler>>condenser>>radiator just like that picture. Not sure how it was done. Cause the stock radiator support seems too small to cut a slot in to fit an IC.

I too have a 3 core monster. I bought the Rotary-Works FB radiator.

we kinda cheated, and slightly moved the condenser back a bit, and I had hoses made to relocate the receiver/drier. If I removed the power steering and ac, there would be tons of room, but we wanted to make this a sleeper street car, that acted like a street car.

Holes were drilled, sheet metal was cut, but in the end, it was all worth it.

I believe I am going to just have custom hoses made as well. Mainly because the a/c lines are routed horribly factory.

With the coolant I will be using in my A/C system I have no need for a dryer either. Cant remember the name but its what XLR8 uses. Unlike the common 134a or whatever people use now, water doesnt really affect this stuff. So that frees up ALOT of space for my IC with that damn dryer gone.

But for now, my Rotary Works Radiator is bolted in and I took the time to polish the holy hell out of it. It came with a sand blast dull finish....now.....it looks like this

if you pull that cover in front of the radiator, you will find tons of room- even without that cover, my car has had no cooling issues. only reason I replaced the radiator is that the mounts broke off the sides of my original one. the original undertray made more of a difference. put that on, and car ran much cooler going down the road

That reminds me. I really need clean up my undertray, its in horrible shape.

I ordered a 28"x 8" x 3.5" IC. From what I measured on the side brackets infront of the radiator, the inlet/ outlet should right at the edge on either side.

Will do ! Today I realized how much money I had in 3rd party polishing for my manifold and TB, So I went ahead and bought a soda blaster and blast cabinet with the ceramic nozzle gun and lights built in. I already have a **** load of polishing tools and supplies from where I built guitars. I also have a powdercoating setup. So now I'm thinking not only can I polish/powdercoat all my stuff but maybe act as a service on the club to draw in cash for the build. After I get it setup I may get ahold of Goodfella about adding another name to the vendor list

All this talk of I/c's and radiators in turbo 1st gens got my juices flowing, so here's todays effort so far - koyo r1144n mocked in, tight fit, but fits sweet, undertray and bonnet no worries. Still need to sort out some proper rubber mounts.
Might take it to a welder tomorrow and get the brackets welded on and the inlet/outlets shortened. Probably would've been easier to use one that was made to fit a first gen, but it was running a t2 radiator before, I got the koyo cheap, and im thinking bigger is better.
Nice build by the way op, im keeping an eye in here, lol.

Alright I sorted the IC setup out. I bought an IC the correct size luckily to fit in the radiatior bracketing. The coupler in the bend infront of the TB will be gone as soon as its welded.

Also bought XLR8s PLX DM100 gauge and integration board, ceramichromed alternator, AEM smart coils w/ harness, MAC sensor, and RS32 bluetooth adapter for the connection between the Samsung Galaxy and Adaptronic.

The FD alternator is utilizing the Banzai bracket....which is awesome.

I have a FD alternator that came on another engine I have. Does that Bonzia bracket prettying make it a bolt on? And which pulley did you use? My stock alternator just can't keep up. I was contemplating having it reworked at a really well known place in Fort Worth to kick out more amps, but if that bracket resolves the issue, to hell with that...

yup, direct bolt on to my s5 n/a engine. As for a pulley I have not got one yet.

Going back together after discovering you have to use a 79-80 lower hose to work with this radiator. But man is it thick.

79 to 80 will fit aye. Ill be calling Ray at Malloy Mazda then.

At this time I think im holding off on the a/c. Its just not that vital right now. I need custom lines made, and i have to relocate the condenser.
