turbo 360 thrust bearings

Hi, I will be getting my turbo rebuilt. I was wondering if the turbo needs to be modified to fit 360 degree thrust bearings? Is there a machining process, or do you simple buy 360 degree thrust washers and reassemble? Thanks

Most thrust bearings that I have seen only go in one way, because we don't want them to be installed upside down. If that is the case for your turbo, then you would need to machine the center housing to accept that bearing.

Why would you want to use a 360 degree thrust bearing? They cause more drag. They are the way they are for a reason.

Thanks, I was curious because BNR does that to their turbo rebuilds. I thought it might add to reliability or something
