Hello, I'm looking around for a good medium size turbo with good spool and not very laggy. My power goals is no higher than 350 whp. I'm looking at the Borg Warner s251, this should be sufficient for my needs?

Second turbo on the page. My manifold is t4 divided with a single wastegate if that helps.

 

None of those are really ideal. The 256 is nice, but the turbine a/r is too big. A 56 trim to4e with a .84 would be a much better pick.

Warner is a great company, especially if your goal is only 350

 

But what you could get a way faster spooling turbo for the same amount of money

As long as Borg Warner is a good company. 690 is rediculously cheap for a turbo.

 

Maybe the Garrett t04e with .84 a/r. It's 57 trim though

The 256 can be had with a 1.00 A/R. Just cost a little more. Dont know why the .83 of the other 200's cant be had with it. Guess they figure it'll mismatch the compressor v turbine flow too much.

Everyone is raving about the spool and power of the Precission 58/62 billet setup but little to no info for a rotary.

 

Only one way to find out.....Im getting bad ideas of going to a single setup again to eliminate a lot of heat and mess under the hood. But sadly have to keep my ACV/Airpump or i'll never pass emissions here. DE pretty much has Cali emissions now So i need a very compact setup to keep that stuff sadly in place. I also have zero interest in a car with over 400rwhp too. So these smaller turbos really have my interest.

i have a precision 6262 billet CEA journal bearing (oil-only) ported S cover w/ T4 .84 turbine housing

i got this turbo because it's very similar in size to the GTX35R, but less than half the price. it's a great turbo.

it has great response and is making ~350whp dynojet at 11psi, and i've done a Road Atlanta HPDE (very fast track, including full boost in 5th gear at ~150mph)

these are awesome turbos, and you have an option to run DBB or journal bearings to cut the cost almost 1/2. IIRC mine was $1000 shipped. a DBB garrett GTX35R is $2100. the ported S cover also sounds awesome, a little different than the BWs and Garretts. more of a jet-like air rushing sound, but also the anti-surge whistle.
