Turbine housing size

Ok so heres the thing guys. I bought a egay turbo about 1.5 years ago an recently started seeing a alot of smoke at idle are a little romp an normal driving. I pulled the turbo found it was leaking oil into the exhaust housing. The turbo was a t04b a.r 60 intake 1.00 exhaust.

So i got a holset hy35w its a huge intake side but the exhaust housing well on a nice was to say it small. I think i read around said its like a a.r 63 give or take a few or something like that undivided. I wanted to go with a smaller exhaust housing for quick spool up. Im not trying to make alot of power just a fast street. The 1.00 took a while about 4k to hit full boost an in first gear you can for get about maybe full boost at about 5.5k. But anyway what would the smallest exhaust a.r would you all suggest. I wanna try out the holset but that little exhaust is whats got me nervous. im only pushing 10-14 psi im not aiming for anything more.

smaller than a .63? no... anything smaller than a .80 is choking up a rotary engine even on stock ports.

in rotary applications any larger single turbo hitting full boost by 4k you are doing pretty well, if you want anything better you either go smaller on the turbo sizing(turbine and compressor) or go with a ball bearing turbo. choking up the turbine housing size will just result in less top end power and a flat power curve early on in the RPM ranges(as well as higher internal combustion temps resulting in higher possibility of detonation).

we've had turbos capable of 550whp only push 350 to the wheels by dong what you're trying to accomplish for maybe 300-400 RPMs quicker spool(not worth the damage you're doing).

ok so i have been doing alot of research. i found that running a smaller exhausrt housing calls for a bigger wastegate i have 50mm wastegate on mine. I know i dont have full compression i know that for sure. As i have rebuilt the motor with used housings an its half bridge so on. I can always try different a.r on the turbine housings an see how they react. Ill be back with more info. im still goin to try an get a bigger housing for this holset. but i also found out that the housing stock on the hy35w is NOT a divided

small turbo housing= Bigger wastegate
Larger turbo housing= smaller wastegate.

i can understand this as it would take longer between shifts with a big turbo an big wastegate to build boost again. Cause your letting more exhaust out of the wastegate. SO ill give this a try see whats going on i have a egt an im fullstand alone so i can also tweak afr an timing but that housing size still eats at me i need to just figure something
