Is the RX6 a dual or single ball bearing design??? Also the T04E is watter cooled and the RX6 is not.

Hey glass man, I don't know if you were referring to a specific kit or not, but T04e's are available with water cooled centre sections and without water cooled.
Mine is not water cooled.
As for spool, I have the 1.15 divided hot side with a p trim wheel, the turbo hits full boost in 1st at 4000, second by 3800, and after that its right there all the time.. On the highway the turbo is making a little boost all the time, its a small enough that you don't have to shift to 4th to pass a car, you can make decent boost from 3000 in fifth ..Max

I've seen both the XS TO4E and I have the apex'i rx6. I don't know about peformance but from looking at both kits, the apex'i one seems to be nicer and higher quality and better built than the XS one. I have the apex'i kit and it spools up very very quickly and I absolutely love it!!! I have never driven a TO4E(But want to get a ride in it at least) so I can't offer any real comparison. I also heard from someone that the XS kit makes more power than the apex'i one and the apex'i spooling up faster, but I guess it's the other way around since XSpower said otherwise. If the T04e really does spool as fast as teh apex'i, then if i could do it over again, i would rather have the xs one because it's cheaper and also rebuildable.

But the Apex'i lets you keep the airpump if needed.

The new apex'i kits allow you to keep the airpump, here is a picture of my engine bay:

note how much lower the turbo sits compared with other people (such as max or sub-zero's) turbo kits. The airpump could totally fit there (provided your IC piping isn't blocking it.

I never noticed that when You first posted your engine pics. How is the tuning going on your car?

I made 306rwhp at 10psi until the stock ignition system stared to misfire on the dyno. I need to get an inition amplifier, spark plugs, and spark plug wires and then I can try to dyno it at 15psi. I'm hoping to make aound 380rwhpat 15psi.

Well, for what it's worth I went with the RX6 and I'm very happy with it. One of the deciding factors for me was the air pump issue since unfortunately I'm subjected to the environazis, and the trend seems to be that things are getting tighter. $100 might not get me a free sticker much longer...

My biggest complaint is that the damn wastegate dump tube vents to the air and it's gonna cost a fair chunk of change to get it routed back into the exhaust. Not sure if the T04 kit is any different.

Plus, ya gotta give some credit to the RX6 for that kick *** jet-engine-spinning-down noise it makes when you turn off the car. Can't tell you how many looks that gets when you're at the gas station!

Hey guys,

Does apexi make a rx6B turbo kit, or can you buy the turbo and fit it to the normal rx-7 turbo kit?

thanks for help,

Hey max,

A while ago I purchased an rx6 turbo from Japan after I also tossed my apex seal at the turbine. Unfortunately I wasn't as lucky as you to get it repaired. The used unit I got was tagged with a rx6B on the center casting. I dyno'd a couple of weeks ago with 387rwhp@15psi but I don't have any #'s for my old unit since I didn't have my fuel system setup for it at the time and never did a 12+dyno run. Granted I now have a street ported motor and more fuel I didn't notice any difference in spool up. I more curious if you had any dyno #s @15psi....I wonder if this is really a higher output unit.
