TO4 Turbo

does anyone know if a hks t04e turbo fits on the stock turbo manifold of an 89 turbo2? Can i buy just the turbo or do i need to buy the kit that hks sells? also if i buy a t04e turbo do i need other parts to make it fit? I'm poor and would like to not spend money on a kit if i dont need it. thanks.

if your poor. you can have initial d fc make you a custom kit. should be alot cheaper. the HKS kit is real nice though if you can get spring for that get it your life will be alot easier your also gonna want a front mount intercooler and depending how much boost bigger injectors and engine management system to control them. alot of stuff comes in to play with bigger turbos and more boost to make the car last.

I think you are going to need the HKS cast manifold. As far as i know, the only turbo upgrade you can use with the stock manifold is if you are going with a HYBRID. The stock exaust housing is used and the compressor housing is upgraded to a larger size. 60-1 i think is the biggest housing you can use.

Im going with a Garrett T04B with hks manifold. You might also want to consider getting better fuel delivery system and perhaps a better computer. Good luck.

thanks for the help guys... not sure what to do now. Horsepowerfreaks.com under turbos only it says it bolts directly to the stock manifold. I wasnt sure if that was right or not. Thanks much guys.

T04E on a OEM manifold

It will bolt up to it, but I think the turbo is to large and will run into the side of the motor..That was one of the reasons they made the manifolds for the T04....I was bored and tried it myself to see...No dice

let say if I have a t3/t4 hybrid turbocharger
all I have to do is take out the compressor side and put it into my stock exhaust housing? is it correct? can the stock wastegate handle the boost?
