Tial wastegate question
I just finished putting my GT35r kit in and started my car and its friggen loud!!! I am running a resonated midpipe with the Greddy Sp cb and the wastegate is vented to atmosphere. It seems like the noise is coming from the wastegate area so my buddy put his hand there to see if he felt exhaust venting through the wastegate and he did. Now my question is, is the wastegate supposed to vent to atmosphere at idle or am I just crazy and the single with the wastegate to atmosphere is supposed to be this loud. If it is then I am definitely routing the wastegate in to the downpipe. I reved it up and it built 5psi of boost by redline but I never heard the blow off valve let off the pressure.

There is an insert/sleeve that goes into the wastegate , around the valve to create a seal, where it meets the piping. If you forget to put it in, you have a huge exhaust leak. check your box for it. there should only be a v-band clamp and flange left (for a dump tube off of the side of the WG).

There was nothing else left in the box. It came with the fittings, wastegate, a second set of vband clamps and that was it. Do you have a pic of this part you are talking about?

It is the ring on the bottom of the stack of 3, it has the beveled inside edge(valve seat), as opposed to the others (flanges) having a stepped inside edge. If it is not installed correctly (not flush against the valve and outer flange), it'll leak as well.

So I finally installed the valve seat on the wastegate and started the car up. It sounds nice and quiet. I reved it up and now my greddy blow off valve works. That greddy rs bov is loud. Thanks for the help everyone.

I had my wg vented to atm up until 2 weeks ago pretty loud! sounded like a jet taking off under my center console/front dash.
It is the wastegate making all that noise. Plumb the wg outlet into the downpipe-- and tada no more overpowering growl.
