TiAl 40/44MM wastegates.

Hey again.

After testing out many things, I've concluded that the wastegate for one reason or another has failed. Oh well, better that than the engine.

But, I'm a bit confused... why are TiAl 44mm wastegates cheaper than TiAl 40mm wastegates?

I always thought that the rule was "the bigger the better" with wastegates?

Is the 40mm a better unit, or is it just harder to come by?

Discuss.

The Tial 40mm wastegate has been discontinued by Tial. You can still get flanges, bolts, nuts, etc.

Differences between Tial 44mm. vs 40mm. The Tial 40mm is installed onto 4 long studs where as the Tial 44mm is v-band on both the inlet and outlet side. Definitely makes installing a Tial 44mm much much easier.

You can still find Tial 40mm wastegates used but I would not even bother since the Tial 44mm wastegate is definitely the better wastegate do to larger inlet and outlet areas and ease of installation.

You are probably seeing older pricing for the Tial 40mm whereas the price for Tial 44mm are generally cheaper due to competition, etc.
