Tial 35mm wastegate

I will be purchasing a wastegate soon and am on a budget. I can get a good price on the above mentioned gate. I did some checking and apparently the 35 mm is good for about 500 hp. My question is what is a safe hp number to make without compromising the functionality of the wastegate? IE would 450-460 be pushing it?

I have a 1st gen with a turbo 2 motor and will be running a larget T04 of some sort at 10-15 lbs on a ported motor. HP goal is 350rwhp. I think I should be fine right?

Personally I wouldn't use anything smaller then a 40mm wastegate. Theres nothing more frustrating then not being able to control boost.

A wastegate should not be rated for a certain horsepower. Their job is to bleed off exhaust energy to prevent overboost.
A very high powered car uses high boost, so you do not need to bleed off much exhaust energy, you need to use it all. Therefore a small gate would work.
If you want to turn the boost way down on that same motor then you will need a big wastegate, because you have to bleed of a lot of exhaust to keep the boost low.
Your best bet is to make your list of mods and call a shop that uses the TiAL wastegates a lot. They may have already tried your combination and can tell you how well it worked. In your area you know who that is!

There is a guy down here using one of those gates on a heavily ported series five motor with a T66 @ 18psi making 440rwhp and no boost creep problems.

It will PROBABLY do the job, but as other guys have said, be sure and get the bigger size.
Plus if you do more serious upgrades down the line, even if they are not planned yet, you won't have to upgrade it, so it saves you money in the long run.

You guys also have to remember that the wastegate is only as good as the manifold design. You can have a 60mm wastegate on a poorly designed manifold and still have boost controlling prolbems.
