Things that need to be done before "Dyno Tuning"?

Steve Kan is coming this weekend to tune my car on the dyno. My goal is to turn the boost up as high as I can. What things are needed or need to be done to make things run smoother?

So far I've got,
20 gallons of VP C16
8 NKG race plugs
Clean fuel filter
Huge Ito ported engine
Hks T51R KAI
TII coil
MSD 6AL

Some form of boost control or are you running off of the spring? Other than that, I think you are good to go.

I have a manual boost controller that I threw together.

Stupid brittle *** wiring harness. Crank sensor wire was probably broke somewhere in the harness. I replaced the harness with another one.

More than half the cars had boost control issues on our big tuning weekend. Have a back-up plan in case the manual controller doesn't work as well as you hope. Bring two, borrow one, be prepared to buy an EBC and install it quickly, etc.

#10 plugs......

My MBS works, it's already controlled my boost up to 22 lbs. If that doesn't work I'll just run my wastegate hose open

I would get colder plugs for higher boost... like some 11.5's....How much boost are you planning for?..

I think my fuel will let out before the B10EGV's do. Kabooski put down 520 to the ground with those plugs. I don't see why I couldn't.

The hp isnt the issue, its the boost pressure and the tuning where the plugs come into play.. 10's are getting pretty warm if you intend to run the car to the edge...Its the safety margin you after...Why go through all the trouble of running on super high octane fuel then run with a compartively hot plug for those kinda combustion temps...

It's not like I'm going to run 30+ psi of boost. I said I'll turn the boost as high as I can until my fuel runs out. I've only got 2X950cc and 2X1300cc injectors. That's good for 540whp@88% duty. Those plugs should handle that.

YOu are at pretty much the same injecotor capacity as me, with the same compressor, yours is a kai mine is an "s".. You will run out of injector at around 22-23 psi if you take the car right to 8000 rpm and if you are gonna run out of injector, all the more reason to try and run safer..I run 720/1600 in my car..
Here is a datalog of 20 psi with duty cycles at 10.8-11:1 on premixed pump gas, you can push it leaner with race gas but by how much I dont know..

^I don't feel so bad now, after seeing your intake temps...what is your IC set-up?

Eric - don't forget the simple stuff too. Cooling is up to par and fresh oil.

Water spray (garden sprayer from hardware store) to cool things down (rad, oil coolers, IC) between runs.

Water, chair, ear plugs, snacks.
