Guys, I think he stated that the car was a "daily driver", so I dont think 20+ psi on pump gas will work!

it still surprises me when I read how many people have broken axles just running 11s. the car has seen at least a dozen 1.5 60 footers so its only a matter of time before I break one I suppose!

just don't be surprised. i did a nice burnout and launched at about 7500rpm with the 4puck clutch ? that probably didn't help

I've broken axles, and i've only run 12's. I launch at 2700 to 3000 rpm. Maybe the full second of uncontrollable wheel hop had something to do with it.
I won't race again until I get the petit launch kit, or something similar anyeays.

The biggest problem over "here" with broken parts is everyone insisting on running drag radials. I don't think many people over "there" even bother with drag radials. They just skip the crap and go straight for the sweet stuff*.

Slicks will save your parts longer than DR's will by far. The shock of the radial is what snaps stuff......the slick takes a hell of a lot more shock than a DR will. I didn't break that many parts on my cars with slicks......but when the DR's went on.......snap,crackle,pop!

(*slicks )

I'm not saying that you won't break stuff with slicks on the car......it's just more likely to break stuff with DR's.

Also, to keep this on topic.......look at my sig to see a 9sec........oops! I mean 10 sec. combo

X S Engineering ran a 10.09 @139.99 mph.

They are running a bridgeport and two T04Es. Power does not come on until 6k rpm. The car idles around 2k and starts to clean up aroind 3500 rpm - this ain't for the street!

I don't know how you are going to run a 10 sec RX-7 on the street with pump fuel. If you are going to run with race gas, then this is do-able.

I would say an 11 sec car on the street is PLENTY fast and quite fun. Getting to that 10 sec mark will take some money and a lot of balance to your setup.

I would say a 11 sec RX-7 would need 400 rwhp while a 10 sec RX-7 would need +500 or so rwhp. We are also talking about a more critical setup for traction and launching. Reducing the weight would be the way to go, although it would be expensive!

regards and good luck!

Rick
