TD06 Rebuild?

My TD06 is giving the death whine. Well at least I think it's a death whine as I've heard it on a Supra with a dying secondary turbo. I can't go WOT or the car will stumble past 3 to 4k rpm. I've to accelerate very slowly in all gears in order not to get the stumble. The turbine seems to turn very smoothly when it was out of the car and there's an acceptable amount of freeplay but there's lots of oil in the intercooler pipings. Any other way to test whether it's really shot?

Any idea where and how much it'll cost to have it rebuild?

Cheers

Michael

Someone must have done this before, please? Or am I looking at a new turbo? And if I'm going for a new one, given the apparent ease with finding places that can do Garrett turbo rebuilts, would it be a good idea to change my Greddy manifold to a T4 flange and install something like a GT35/40?

Many thanks

Dear supracosworth

Turbine rebuild cost depends on its damage.
Slast (Thrast ? I don't know the spelling, any help thanks ) metal.
Main bearing
Intake blade
Ex blade

Inspection is needed for your rebuild cost.
If you don't mind to ship your turbine to Japan, I can help you.

PS Garret turbines are less durable than TD turbines.

thanks Inukai. I had the turbo taken out for inspection and it wasn't the turbo actually. The tubo spins smoothly and there's hardly any axial or side play. The noise comes from something else. It s good to have your contact in case I need a rebuild later on. Thanks again.
