Smile A T88 question...

I'm looking at installing a GReddy T88 on a '93 RX-7 R1, although I have many questions at what I should do before so, or along with.

I'm use to working on/tuning pushrod engines, and know with those there is MUCH you must do to the internals. What must be done with the rotary before this turbo can be installed?

Is there work that must be done to the internals of the engine so that it may handle the extra abuse this turbo will create?

Please, help me out guys, thanks much.

P.S.
Even if there is a URL which explains this, I would greatly appreciate it, thank you.

I've spent my entire Memorial day reading on the net, and can't find a whole lot of information pertaining to my question, obviously I'm looking in the wrong places. Hence my "Post Script" asking for a URL if anyone had one.

I've resorted to asking a question or two on here, perhaps for some help.

Oh boy, if you have to ask you prob. should not install this turbo.

But first of all, all engines work the same, gas + air + compression = power. If you increase the air, increase the fuel, ie bigger injectors, fuel pump, fuel lines etc, and then you will need a engine management system to controll the fuel, the heat will increase, so you should have a bigger rad, intercooler etc.... The seals inside(apex seals) should be strengthened, ie, 3mm instead of the stock 2mm. Raceport or street port should be done too (if you have to ask what that is, you should take it to a qualified mechanic) and then exhaust, should be big enough for the flow....that should get you started.... I should have just said search, there is tons of info on this set up.

I won't be doing the work, but I don't want a shop telling me I need something, when in all reality they are trying to overcharger me for the job.

Sorry I came to this forum, bugged you people. "Should have just said search", I'll let you guys get back to patting each other on your backs, telling each other how great your cars are.

Way to welcome a new comer not only to the site, but also to owning an RX-7. Perhaps I oughta stick to tuning a pushrod, they make the REAL power anyhow.

G'bye.

Mod's might as well delete this thread, I'm not coming back to it.

Sorry to scare you off....but this forum is a very good source of infomation on just about everything....and you will find people willing to help you if you ask...email me and I will tell you everything you need. But if you type in T88 in the search area you will get alot of info. Also look at the first posting of "posting your single turbo set up" and look for a similar car with a T88 and email, or Private message him for some help, I'm sure there will be lots of people willing to help you out.(experinces, setup, cost etc...) I don't have a big turbo, like the T88, so I don't know all the mods you need, but I know a little.....If they said you need to upgrade your fuel lines, they are prob. right. I do know it is a big job to replace all the lines....your looking at about 800 plus dollars for that...good luck, but don't get so deffensive. If you don't come back you will loose a good source of info and experience.

Don't let these guys scare you off. I had the T88 before my HKS T51R KAI. It was a good turbo, made good power at low boost even. I never dynoed it but the **** dyno told me it had around 400rwhp@14psi. Before making any decision spend a good 1-2 months thouroughly reading and searching. This way you won't end up buying parts that you will be un happy with later on.
