T66 Budget Kit Dyno Numbers

Hey guys,
Made it to the dyno today for a little wideband tuning. I pieced this turbo kit together for $1900, doing most of the stuff myself.

Here are my mods:
Stock engine 48k miles
Budget T-66 kit
Greddy FMIC (old school)
Borla Midpipe
Greddy SP
Greddy Pullies
Power FC w/ Datalogit
1200cc secondaries
Profec B

First off, many thanks to Tim Benton for answering my questions and looking at some of my maps. Also thanks to Chuck Westbrook for an excellent timing map and darn close fuel map.

I went 10% richer in all boost areas over Chuck's map and was under 10:1 on the AFR on my first pull. Pulled some out (a breeze for me, a tuning idiot, with the datalogit BTW) and got it right where I wanted it -a tad under 11:1 at peak torque moving into the low 11s on up to redline. Tweaked a little more.

Here are the numbers at 15.5 psi and 12.5 psi and, though the numbers are SAE corrected, it was 95+ and humid in the garage bay so it would probably be higher at actual standard conditions since turbo cars will do that. The sheets show power, boost, and AFR. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, this is with a .70 P-trim exhaust housing

Hehe, I think it would be a little too ghetto to market, especially since everything was slightly used Its an HKS SS divided mani from Jesse Lau.

Something interesting, it made more power everywhere over Schlagheck's 1.32 AR AND street ported setup at the same boost. It also peaked at the same rpm. Whats up with dat?

Damn, if I knew you were going today, I'd love to have come up there. I got off around 1:30 today and was working on the TII and cutting the grass in between the rain drops. Looks good, how was the knock numbers during the dyno run?

Hey Tim,
I called Arthur today to check availability for later this week or next week. He said come on over now LOL.

The knock was under 40 with nothing unusual. It jumped a little when I let off. How do those AFRs look? On the red one (low boost) I leaned it to ~11.0 from 6000-6500 afterwards. The blue one I added 2% at 7000. The timing was one of Chuck's maps with a little more taken out around peak torque, the split was 12 deg. It made what I wanted power wise so I didn't want to risk it for 10-15 more hp.

You cound make WAY more power by swapping off that .70 exhaust and going to a .96 or 1.0.

You are choking that thing did you buy the turbo from a supra guy?

I just picked up a .81 Q trim T66 from a Supra guy, it will be on my Supra(700rwhp) initially, and then the 7 I think it should be good for 450rwhp at 20 psi +/-. If it spools really fast I will change it to a 1.00 ar Qtrim. I think the .81 will be the **** for road race. BTW NICE torque Marshall This will be an undivided set-up initially. If any one has a divided mani that will clear the frame rail and the LIM, please let me know. Carl

I think I need BIGGER tires BTW, I pulled this T66 kit together for 2200.00, from the manifold out to the DP.

Thanks guys, from what read, I honestly expected the power to drop off hard after 6500 with a .70 -but then it went on to peak after most stock port engines (7200 rpm) and continues to maintain decent power to 8k. This is why I pulled up RS's old 15 psi T-66 dyno (1.32 exhaust) to look for that drastic difference in powercurves -it wasn't there (maybe tuning?).

http://www.catenet.net/graph.php?car12=1&SUBMIT=GRAPH

I'm sure I could pick up a few poines with a bigger hotside though but for now I'm going to finish my water injection (budget ) and try a couple 17psi dragstrip passes.

For my setup, most of the parts were used but like new condition:
HKS SS Mani, Racing WG, Downpipe $900
T-66 4000 miles $800
Misc stuff (couplers, lines, fittings, etc) $200

You could probably do all new stuff with a T04S for $2100 if you have some fabbing skills.

BTW, I paid 800.00 for my T66 with 4000 miles

Bi-State Customs sells the T04S kit for 2800. They can the basically with whatever you turbo you want. The prices are lower because the make the kits in house.

Here is the number if anyone wants to talk about it.
