for that price, I'd probably get a new turbo kit instead. . .

I'm sure you can find one a bit more local and get more info like shaft play, etc. The price is good tho, those are over $6000 new.

First of all HKS turbo kits are way overpriced for what you get. But the T51R kit aint no $6k. You can get it anywhere if you shop a bit for just under $5k.

http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/hks%20t51r%20kit.htm

For that kind of money, buy a GT42R kit and have a much better turbo AND save another $1000 doin it.

...ok, a few bucks off. Way overpriced for sure, but quality products.

Try this site

http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/HKS-...urbo-Kit-27818

I have purchased a number of goods off them, their service is great, and prices are pretty decent.Generally take around 7-10 days to be delivered to Australia...so I would suspect even quicker to USA..

BTW...
When you have a look at a HKS turbo, and then compare to a garrett turbo, you will understand where your extra money has gone, much much higher quality.
The kit is incredible and includes EVERY part you need for the conversion (Short of the ECU and fuel mods) The manifold is nicely made, and sits the turbo close to the block, allowing the use of your factory airbox if your so inclined..(Not to mention short length runners offer all sorts of benefits over long runners!)
The KAI turbo is a lot smaller physically than the similar spec GT42R...

Yes I have one, so I am biased...although mine is the larger SPL model.

And Ernie, I like your car, and am hoping to get somewhere in the vicinity of your power...fingers crossed...of course with me living in the southern hemisphere who knows...even our toilets flush in reverse to you!

^thanks. I was hoping not to sick Rice on them....and his million page "vs." thread.

Regardless of the "kit", there is no doubt that the T51R Kai SPL and GTII 60mm wastegate are proven products, regardless of "cost"

Quoting Dave Lemon from the Mazdatrix catalog...

SPEED COSTS MONEY, HOW FAST DO YOU WANT TO GO?
YOU CAN BE CHEAP, FAST, OR SAFE. PICK TWO
IN ORDER TO FINISH FIRST, YOU MUST FIRST FINISH.
...and finally...
THE WAY TO MAKE A SMALL FORTUNE IN RACING IS TO START WITH A LARGE FORTUNE.

I have seen too many motors blow, both rotor and piston, trying to be a bad *** and run a GT42R....plus leave drivetrains all over the floor when full boost hits at their designed efficiency level....for a big *** diesel truck!
