Question T51R Exhaust housing on a T51s or a T-72?

Does any one that has the T51R know if that exhaust housing (Circle flange clamp type) will fit on a T-51s or a T-72? Is it a Q trim? I no longer have an example to play with...

Also I have heard that there are a couple other companines making this type of turbine, with same exhaust housing. Anyone hear anything?

I came across an HKS T-51 manifold awhile back and I inquired @ several well respected turbo shops and the v-band flange housing could only be purchased though HKS. This was 6 months ago though.

The reason for the question is I came across a 1.00 circulat exhaust housing by itself and was wondering if there is a more economical turbine it will bolt to.

A japanese guy told me that the T-51s will work also and I am not sure if I remember correctly but I though the T51s and the Turbinetics T-72 were the same thing. Any imput welcome thanks.

Fastrax turbo used to make custom t51s-t51r, although I don't know if they're any longer in business. And I think they did to4 style housings although they might have done v-band as well not sure. Here's their old company info:

Fastrax Turbo Technologies
22114 S. Vermont Suite 102
Torrance, CA 90502 USA
phone: (310) 782-3528
fax: (310) 782-3582
website: fastraxtubo.com
contact: Shigenori Miyoshi
owner: Richard Ku

Unfortunately www.fastraxturbo.com is now what seems to be a ford focus site, not a turbo site. Which leaves me to believe they're out of business. There are a couple of shops online that claim to carry Fastrax turbochargers so maybe they could put you in touch with Fastrax themselves. Sorry I know it would be a high priced call to over here but hope it helps somewhat as they might be able to tell you what housing fits, price a t51s, etc..

T72 and T51R are not the same. You will not find T51R turbine size in the regular turbonetic catalog.

I know this because mine was damaged by a shooting out apex seal and I got it rebuilt. The turbine wheel was damaged and I got a new one. The bearing kit is available as well.

Looks like I will be the only one who can have this turbo rebuilt because I know where every single part is coming from. =P

My only real concern is if the exhasut wheel is the same, I have a T51R exhaust housing by itself and dont want the price tag of a KAI. So the T51s and r have custom ehaust wheels they are not a Q?

It's not the same. It's not a Q trim. The size is different.

The Q trim has smaller diameters on both the major and minor so the wheel will go through the T51R turbine housing just fine. The only problem is you might not able to clamp on the T51R turbine housing to the T72 bearing housing. I don't know what size the T72 bearing housing is.

I do have a question for you though. For the fuel rail you sold me, what kind of fitting does it take? You never told me.
