T28 turbo, usefull item?

Hey guys, just some thinking after a visit to a friend.
He works at a repair centre for container cranes. You know, those big cranes to drive around containers in harbor stocking areas (see fast and furious film, beginning)

Well, those cranes run v6,v8 and v10 engines, turbo aspirated.
So he sees every day big BIG turbos.
About the smallest he found around there was a T28 Garett turbo.

Being curious and looking for some bigger plans in a few years, i though it could be some kind of an opportunity.

Today, surprisingl, I'm bladering through a australiancar magazine with a 500HP RX7 FD on the cover.
Apperntly this guy runs a Mazsport engine with T28 turbo, putting down 400H^p at 12PSi and 500 at 20psi.

There were no further infos on the trim of the turbo so don't ask me that, but is this turbo something to consider or not?

Goal is to put on the street a 350-400 HP FD single turbo as relaiable as possible. Weekend driver, no dragging.

With are my odds on this plan?

Advise is appreciated.
the Australian FD is a wingless yellow-purple FD, with 20" chrome Lexani wheels and beige leather interior.
Is name was something spanisch.

Is the T28 a single turbo option or rather twinturbo without the vacuum system?

Are you sure he's putting down 500 @ 20 psi and 400 @ 12 psi with a T28?
That is a very small turbocharger, if I'm not mistaken the Skyline Twin Turbo uses two of them stock! Single ones are often found on small 4cyl engines (1.6-2.2L)
I have also heard of FD guys upgrading to twin T28's to acheive similar HP numbers.
Those numbers however sound about right for a T78. Typo? or maybe it's twin T28s?

Yeah I know. Those numbers are really high. Looking at the pictures in the magazine (it's a single alright) it was one heck of a turbo. so T78 was something that immediately hit my mind. The T28 story was in the repo but there were other mistakes in it so this could also be one.

I already asked this before, but when talking about T78 turbo's, T66 and others I can not believe they are inly building them for turbo upgrades, but mostly for serial production for bigger, mostly non-car related engines.

So my question there is, where are those big turbo's normally used for? Trucks? load carriers,...??
