T2 Clutch Type diff vs Kaaz Differential in FD
Ok time has come...
Which is better... pro's/con's - etc.
I can get the T2 Diff (87-88) Clutch type for $400 shipped.
The kaaz is roughly $800.
People say the kaaz chatters and yada yada yada...
I need something that is going to be able to hold down up to 700hp... not that I'll be putting all that much down right now.. but i'll be seeing at least 600hp in the next few months.
Trying to choose a diff, in the process of building up the rear for the strip.
Thanks,
-Darren-

I've heard people swear they are the exact samething or very similar. (Voskslow perhaps?)
The older Kaaz's did make some good noise, the newer ones are supposedly better, but I have yet to hear a newer one myself. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. If you really want to go hardcore (and it sounds like you do) look into getting one Jimlab's Cobra cradles.

Unless I had a part list of what I'm going ot need, and a price range.. I don't consider it an option.
Us military folk are broke.. and don't have unlimited pockets like Mr. Cheatham - the bastard.
If one was going to buy a 4.33 gear, 300mm axles, and a Kaaz unit you might at well go with Jimlabs cradle. Much more cost effective and a wider range of parts out there for the cobra rear end.

I figure the whole rear end setup using a kaaz would cost $2000...
How does the cobra rear end compare?
I know its solid so it can handle an assload of power.

Jimlab has giving the jig to make the cradle to another forum memeber and another group buy should be starting soon. There are full rear ends for 03 Cobras on ebay and I remember a thread being out there somewhere regarding getting the driveshaft shop to make the axels.

So Basically I am converting the whole rear end of my car into a 03 Mustange Cobra rear end...
meaning...
I'll need new shocks, spindles with the same bolt pattern, new brakes, new axels. Sounds like a ****-ton of fab work that is going to have to be done. I'll talk to a few guys on here, maybe they can help me out.

I suggest finding someone local that has the KAAZ installed and drive in their car around town and make sure you can handle the chatter of making a 90deg turn from a dead stop.

It depends on the application. In my case, my FD is primarily a street car. I went with a S4 TII diff, and had it cryoed for the hell of it. I'm confident it'll take whatever I can throw at it, but I also have no plans for 600-700 hp.

Chatter as in noise?
Lemme see...
T51r KAI + 4 Inch Unrestricted Exhaust...
Chatter was never a concern... it can make a loud squeel and I wouldn't hear it.. my car is stupid loud.
Anyway, I'm going to do the 8.8 setup.

i believe he is talking more about the way it feels, more like a clunk clunk clunk and you feel the jerks of the clutches inside the diff when doing a tight turn...supposedly from some people, doing the figure 8 break in procedure eliminated all that, but they say it has to be done with the kazz fluid and as soon as it is installed. I have a 4" downpipe and the RP 3.75" exhaust, and its actually not that bad as far as being really loud.
