What're your goals? Stock ports? What will the car be used for?

As a general rule, many people seem to use something close to the following specs:

.70 A/R Compressor housing
60-1 compressor wheel
P-Trim exhaust wheel
.96 Undivided (or 1.00 Divided) exhaust housing

That's good for about 7psi by 3500 rpm or so (5th gear pull) on my stock port 1990 TII. If I had to do it again, i'd probably drop down to a .84 A/R divided exhaust housing -- helps spool up a bit and doesn't really hurt power much at all (especially not with the stock ports).

Give us more details!

ah sorry. I have pineapple racing street port, and I would like to make about 400 rwhp or so on pump gas around 15psi.. mostly a street car, but drag and autocross sometimes. if it spools by 3500/4000 I will be happy. when I go to the drag strip I would like to be able to turn it up to 20 psi on race gas. I will be using a microtech ecu, so the tuning shouldnt be a problem with rolo about an hour away.

I always though we used big A/R's like 1.15 or so? Im new to all this single turbo business, so bare with me.

A 1.00 divided with those other specs will get you 400 rwhp right around 15 psi no problem.

i asked this question a while back and riceracing recommended the .70 compressor and a 1.15 div turbine (i have the obx mani) with the 60-1. i have a local turbo distributor in town and bought a new turbo from him with all requirements except that it has a garrett -17 wheel (?) whatever that is. it has a 58mm inducer with a 75mm exducer. i hope that it will put past the 400rwhp mark.

spoolin, do you have this setup on your car now? i just ordered the obx manifold and am wondering what turbo i should get. does the 60-1 with those specs fit without hitting the intake manny or the frame rail or did you modify it someway? thanks.....
ps do you think a t66 would fit without hitting anything?

I have the obx manifold. I was wondering what size wastegate I need and where is the cheapest place to buy a T04S with the apove specs.

no chance in hell of the T66 fitting. i haven't got it on yet- too many other things going on. that cars been on the back burner for over a year now. just been buying here and there. bacon has this setup and he said that a cure was to buy an exhaust flange from racing beat and another set of exhaust gaskets and use it as a spacer. he had a thread about whether or not to weld it to the obx but was recommended not to due to the different metals and expansion properties under heat(RB flange- mild steel/obx mani- SS). i was fixing to pm him and see how he's coming along til i checked back here.

the wastegate is a greddy/hks style flange. i was thinking of getting the tial 40mm and welding a new flange on it due to cost(i can get it close to that) instead of the hks or greddy. and how close are you to getting your car running? i might sell mine since i realistically don't see me finishing this car this year. better to help someone than be a scrooge......but people don't think i'm coming off my powerFC and datalogging/wideband setup!! that stuffs staying right under my bed where it's safe

So the Tial 40mm wastegate wont fit onto the OBX manifold without welding the new flange? I have the OBX manifold, but no wastegate yet. The pictures I saw of the Tial 40mm flange looked similar to the one on the OBX manifold.

Sounds like a T04B Super H compressor wheel. (2.298" inducer 3.00" exducer, or 58.37 mm and 76.20mm) Thats the only thing in the standard garrett line I find thats close. Its smaller then a 60-1 (2.324", 59.02" In and 3.00", 76.20mm EX). Some people are able to get to the 400whp mark with a 60-1 with the right combo of parts / ports and tunning, but not everyone is able to get to that 400 mark. You got a slightly smaller wheel then a 60-1, however I'm not positive what you got, so making 400 hp might be a challenge. Then again, no telling what that wheel is, it might have a large B-width.

The OBX manifold has a HKS/GReedy wastegate flange like they say, a TIAL wont bolt to it. But rather then cuting up/welding your OBX, you can make an adapter from the HKS to Tial.

Is it the standard 40mm HKS/Greddy wastegate, the Gt wastegate, or racing wastegate that fits on the OBX manifold?

The HKS Standard and Racing WG will both bolt up. The HKS Racing SS and GT WG have different flanges.
