T04R versus GT3574
I know these both have the same sized compressor wheel but the T04R has a smaller size turbine wheel.
I am wondering what kind of effect this should have on low levels of boost? on an FD.

T04R will be good for more boost and more power at a slight loss in spool. both turbos use a P-trim exhaust wheel, so with the T04R your needing to move the extra inertia of the larger compressor wheel.
What do you use the car for? ive got a 3574 on mine and does exactly what i need it to at the track. If i was drag racing tho id have gone T04R at a minimum

The car will never be dragged, ever. Looking to run really not that high boost 10-15psi max, probably 1200cc secondaries for better atomization than 1600's, want similar spool to stock full boost before 4000rpm.

Depending on your setup both will give you full boost before 4000. given what you just said id look at a T04S with a .84 divided housing. That will work very well on a stock port to medium street port motor, should give full boost closer to 3000rpm than 4000, flows more air at low boost than the 35, and still is capable of over 400hp...
But the question has to be asked if thats what your looking for why go single, a good set of working twins will easily put out 350 whp and cant be beat for response

Is it just me or what Rx7Store calls "T04R" is what most of us would refer to as "T04S" here is the link:

The way it looks in the picture it looks as though the intercooler side of the turbo would be facing straight down when installed or would it be straight up?

it would be facing outward towards the wheel well in that pic, the compressor housing can easily be clocked for fitment and the routing of the ic pipe
