T04E downpipe flange? v-band?

This seems like a stupid question even to me but i cant seem to find an answer anywhere (searched already DUH). On the exhaust discharge end of my garrett T04E i have a round flange that looks something like a v-band flange minus the stepped edge where the clamp would grab on. I believe the OD is about 2.5". The thing is I'm trying to figure out how to attach my downpipe to it. My first thought was a v-band clamp but it looks to me since it does not have the stepped edge that the clamp would simply slip off. Any help would be appreciated and yeah this is my first aftermarket turbo setup and i already know im a noob so save it for the next guy!

it seems like you are going to have to buy a weld flange and have someone weld it on for you. my turbo was the same way. if you could post a pic i would be 100%.

its the kind that has basically a 1/2" groove cut into the back of the turbing housing around the turbine with an id 2.5" and od 3.5" flat on both sides... and its a used turbo so i know there has to be some sort of fitting that attaches to it.... come on some of you old school guys have got to know this one....

im really trying to avoid welding on a flange unless it is my only option....

ive seen that but im trying to find something that doesnt involve welding my turbine housing.... i mean if garrett produced these slip discharge turbine housings and it is apparently used then there has got to be some sort of way to join a down pipe to it without welding it....

that is a standard slip fit flange, it normally has a packing gasket that fits into the slot, and then a slip fit ring is held in place behind it by two bolts that pull of of tabs that attach by the turbine housing bolts.

edit: the photo that kinetik fd3s posted is the part that you would weld in to convert it to a V band.

any diesel turbo shop should be able to get them, it used to be the standard for most heavy trucks, and a lot of the older turbines until the V band flange came along.

it would consist of the flange (that you need to weld onto your down pipe, a gasket, and the brackets that bolt onto the turbone houseing to pull the flange tight, however be aware that this type strats leaking farily fast, especially if you do not have it alligned 100% . the vband would be a much better option if you could get it welded onto the turbo.

sounds like thats gonna be the best option.... when welding the v-band on is it a good idea to keep the two sides clamped together so it doesn't warp or does it even matter? i already read turbonetics' suggestions on welding the flange to the turbo but they didn't say anything about the flange on the dp side

thanks again
