Question t-51r spl/kai same as turbonetics t-78??

is this true? is the infamous HKS t-51r really the same as the massive horsepower multiplying turbonectics t-78?????.

Hmmm, Turbonetics makes a T-78 now? Boy, turn my back for a second!! It ain't in the catalog.

if you where talking about the greddy t-78( a mitsu turbocharger) then know its alot smaller than the hks t51r.

I agree. Don't go so hard on the new guys. Whenever I see a post I think is "dumb" or the guy obviously should have said somethign else, before I get upset at him, I look to see if he's new or not. But if it's someone with 2471 posts and they asks "Where can I buy a 20B, I have $1500 paycheck I want to spend" then I feel it is very appropriate to get mad at them for not searching

Here are the diameters for the T70, T72, T76 and T88 garrett based turbos from turbonetics. The 70, 72, 76 and 88 are based are the size of the compressor inducer in millimeters. The T70 is the closest to the KAI on compressor size and the T76 is pretty close to the SPL. Again this is just compressor size, not an overall closeness (is that a word) in performance.

T70: Inducer 2.720 (69.08mm) Exducer 3.850
T72: Inducer 2.840 (72.12mm) Exducer 4.030
T76: Inducer 3.020 (76.70mm) Exducer 4.030
T88: Inducer 3.460 (87.88mm) Exducer 4.600

Here is the compressor diameter for the HKS T51R KAI and SPL

T51R KAI: Inducer 2.768 (70.30mm) Exducer 3.701
T51R SPL: Inducer 3.012 (76.50mm) Exducer 4.024

Here are the dimensions for the Greddy (Mitsu) T78, T88 33D and T88 34D. The T78 and T88 33D use the same compressor but different turbine wheels and housings.

T78 33D: Inducer 2.598 (65.99mm) Exducer 3.543
T88 33D: Inducer 2.598 (65.99mm) Exducer 3.543
T88 34D: Inducer 2.744 (69.69mm) Exducer 3.740

just because its his first post on here dosent mean its his first time on the internet. i'm sure he's been to other forums before, and can figure out how to use the search function there and here as well

btw, he didn't ask if they were simmilar in size, he asked if they were the same turbo, like just relabeled turbonetics stuff being sold by hks.
