Synchronic Wastegate

Cool! I can't wait to get this thing! (For those searching this thread in the future, I'm refering to a PrecisionTurbo wastegate, not a Synchronic wastegate)
Yeah, I'm starting to warm up to V-band. All the exhaust stuff I've ever done has been flanged. My new turbo has a V-band and it looks easy enough to deal with.
Just a question on wastegate placement. Since I'm building the manifold myself I have complete control over placement of the turbo and the WG. Is it best to add a little Y pipe on each primary tube, and route over to a common collector to feed the wastegate? This is on an undivided T4 flange of course. I've seen other setups where the WG just comes off the collector beneath the turbo flange at 90°. This looks worse for flow. Isn't the point of feeding a wastegate to feed it as well as possible from the primaries a couple inches from the exhaust ports?
Man, doing a manifold like this will be twice the work, but worth it, right?

Are you using an existing Tial V44 v-band flange to fit this precision 46mm wastegate on? Or are you going to have the flange with the Precision gate welded on to your manifold? if you use the Tial flange, will you provide us with an update to how well it fits? On an ad I seen with the Precision, they said it would fit but would work better with the Precision flange instead.
Thanks!
Thanks!

That's the ad I ordered from. There are several.
I'll use the precision flange that's included. I'm building the manifold myself.
Do you already have a Tial flange on your manifold and would like to know how well a precision WG would work for you? Is that what you're asking?

I want to preface this next comment by saying I've certainly never built a manifold, but I have tirelessly poured over the work of the experienced builders/fabricators here.
They seem to suggest, as does common sense, that you should locate the wastegate pipes in the exterior of a bend in a manifold for best flow so as to promote a natural path for the gas to take. it seems almost impossible to do this for both pipes without a "y" collector. Do what's easiest to get gas to the WG as if is difficult for exhaust to reach it, it will be difficult to vent off excess exhaust an you'll get boost creep.

So at the outside apex of the curve, where the primary tube starts to aim upward? That's what I've seen on other decent manifolds. You obviously don't put the WG tubes on the inside of the curves like a lot of cheap eBay jobs.
It's a 20B so it will need three Y slant cut pipes added tp each primary tube. That's lots of plumbing.
Another option os to add the WG to the collector, but I understand that will give me boost creep, or probably will. Hmm...

Well, you are asking the wrong guy because I've never done this before. But it does state int he ad that it fits a Tial flange, so I'm sure it would. However for fitment of the screamer pipe and general servicing to change springs, I don't know. I'm sure the shapes are a little different so you'd need to redo the output pipe in all likelyhood. Maybe.

I had a synapse 50mm on my car for two years. It worked great all the time. The only thing is that some times when I was sitting at a light the gate would open out of no where, when you tapped the gas it would close again. I also discovered that the top hat part of the gate was loose. When you grab the top part of the gate you can wiggle it back and forth quite a bit(no it was not loose where it mounted to the manifold). I suppose it worked fine, it just may have fallen apart on the interstate at some point.

the 50mm i have did the same exact thing but it was a bit more than yours because it affected the response time of the WG. I sent it in to Synapse and they fixed it with no problem. They got great customer service. I may still lean towards the precision 46mm unit though.

I'd need triple gates. It's a 20B. Maybe triple 38mm could work, but that's a metric ton of plumbing to do. As it is with a single WG and possibly three Y pipes; one on each apex of each primary as it exits the port, it will be a lot of plumbing, but I'd have excellent WG flow for running low boost as I learn how to tune.
Sounds like I'll need excellent WG flow since I'm getting the 46mm Precision Turbo wastegate. Maybe a little smallish, but the price was right.
