Synchronic Wastegate
 

Anyone using one yet? I`ve seen a few posts about them on here but no one really seems to say a lot or it gets turned round onto the BOV.

So wastegate only replies please:)

I have one ready to go on for my T51R SPL. I`ve spoken to Synapse and they have advised me that there is a way I can run both their method of boost control (port combinations:) ) and an electronic boost controller for higher levels of boost, but since that last email I`ve heard nothing more.

I`d be quite happy to just hook it up with my electronic boost controller for now but no where in the instructions does it say how to do this. There are 3 ports and one hole with no nipple that is not being used.

So I guess the questions are has anyone used one and set it up either electronicly (which ports did you use?) or using the port combination method (again which ports to keep it to around 20psi max for now?)

Hopefully swapping my HKS wastegate for the Synapse one soon... i will be running a APEXi AVCR, so ill see how it goes.

We have installed that wastegate and you can use it with an electonic boost controller. It comes with the instructions on how to do that. Its a very nice wastegate and the boost control feature on it is cool.

I couldn`t find in the instructions how to set it up with an electronic boost controller. It does mention something like attaching a boost source to port c to make it run like a regular wastegate but does this mean connect the boost controller there or just an uncontrolled boost source?

I must just be hung up on the normal wastegate technology having one boost source one side of the diaphram and boost controller on the other.

It should work just like a normal wastegate does. Plug in the vaccum/boost souce to the the nipple just as you would with a normal wastegate.

Thanks. I know how to use it as a normal wastegate ie. using a boost/vacuum source on port c and letting the spring do the work.

I just want to know how to hook it up with an electronic boost controller as the manual doesn`t say it just describes the port c thing.

I want to dig this thread up because I'm having questions about the Synapse 50mm wastegate and using an EBC. I am using a Blitz SBC i-d boost controller.

If I hook up the boost controller to port C on the wastegate only and set up the controller as an actuator type I can control the boost BUT the wastegate seems to open too soon. if I try to compensate by adjusting the duty cycle, the boost spikes uncontrollably.

My question is should I set the boost controller up as an external wastegate type and use port A to keep the valve closed and keep C hooked up to my boost controller? Would this help my boost response?

^^^ Wait, thats wrong? If I change the EBC settings from actuator to external, then I need to hook the EBC to port A and port C goes to the boost source?

I'd like to help you but I just learned about these yesterday. They seem nice, and at 50mm probably the perfect size. I'm interested in any information about these anyone would like to share.

I actually had one working a year or so ago on a pretty big setup (on a DSM) but I forget the exact setup. If you were close I would be glad to help, and if you care to post pics I will help you the best I can. Also, if you want to run higher boost levels you will need to get the "helper" spring setup from synapse if you have not already.

I'm in the market for a wastegate for my 20B's new T72 turbo. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Been playing around with the wastegate and the electronic boost controller.

Discovered that it works just fine with a single vacuum signal as long as you set it up as an actuator type on the boost controller. if you set it up as an external wastegate then you have to run two vacuum lines to the wastegate - an uninterrupted boost signal to port C or D and hook the boost controller line to port A (to close the wastegate).

I am using just the single line hook up but using port D because when using port C, the wastegate was toooo sensitive and cracked open the gate way early. In fact, I may crank down on the preload adjustment on top to see if I can get the gate to open even later or go to the larger spring since it came in the kit as well.

The Synapse wastegate is supposed to crack open early. Mine starts to open a little at about 5psi, then is fully open at peak boost (15psi) My tuner was telling me that's a good thing over the other gates that just open all at once at peak boost.

I'm really liking what I'm reading here.

Then why do we all run and buy EBC's to prevent this very thing? All WG's start to crack open early as boost rises, EBC's fool them into thinking boost is less than it is, so they stay shut, and thus spool is improved. :scratch:

Idk..my turbo still spools insanely fast..I'll have to ask him. All my EBC has done is screwed with my boost pattern.

I've been using one of these for about a year now. I have tried every combination possible with my EBC and so far the only one that work is boos source to port A and ebb to port D. With many of the combinations i have tried, boost would not go past 14 psi, and when it did go past that, it spiked so fast that it broke my motor. I am currently about to yank this out and try out the new precision wg. I hear they are good. Keep an eye out for my synapse in the sale section. That's probably where it will end up!

They work just fine. I am running one (over 2 years) but would be just as happy with my old proven TIAL gate. I was having bad creep and was trying differant gates. I dont have it writen down but if someone really wants to know how to hook it up with a EBC PM me and I will go open my hood.

I'm intersted in what works. Will a Precision Turbo 46mm wastegate work better for me? Santa has to know. :)

i'm also looking at the precision WG......i'd like to see some feedback if anyone has one in use. i have heard some pretty good stuff about that.

wastegates are REALLY simple pieces of kit. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. How much can you change on a valve what opens against a spring? Just get a basic HKS or tial standard ass WG, in a big enough size (50mm is plenty) and call it a day. I haven't messed with precision, but I'm 90% sure it'll be fine. You could even get an ebay gate and buy legit HKS diaphragms for it and never know the difference.

just did some reading on precision and those look very high quality, you should be really happy. I have an HKS 50mm and it is a beast as far as boost control goes. Only time you should really see problems are with small gates (38mm or internal) and low boost settings, as at low boost more air is diverted through the wastegate rather than the turbo.

that said, v-band is nice, I'm kind of jealous. (mine has 2, 4 bolt flanges.
