Hedwig,

Just get that HUGE FMIC you know you've been secretly drooling over!

For people asking why it isn't mandrel bent, well it is. The reason you have to have welded sections is because mandrel benders require a certain distance of straight tubing after each bend to clamp on to etc. To avoid this requirement and have complicated bends without long straight sections people cut the straight off and weld another bend in place of it.

Twins, even non-sequential should spool faster than singles period, assuming total flow etc. is equal. The turbine and compressor of a large single that flows the same as two smaller twins will have more mass away from the center of rotation to accelerate than the combined mass of the twins. This means it takes less force to turn the smaller combined turbos blah blah. The only reason everything doesn't use twins is because of weight, simplicity and expense.

The kit looks pretty nifty although I don't understand why the headers are so long. The kit Trev and I made has extremely short headers and I fit TO4 60-1 compressors on both with external wastegates.

Heh, I actually just got my turbos returned to me about 1 or 2 months ago after 3 years of SNAFU. With buying a new house and getting back to building parts I haven't had a chance to put everything back together yet, have to set up my lower garage at home to work on cars still as well. I'll try to have it out this spring. I don't think I'll ever sell it though : ).

how would this compare to the rx6 or gt35/40 turbos? at what boost pressure would it begin to lose efficiency?

I agree, one of the best things about this set up is the custom manifold...as for the turbos running sequentially, one of the biggest problems with the stock twins in road racing or autocross is the boost spike when the secondary comes online. I'm sure these GT turbos will spool up soon enough w/o running sequential...I'm guessing around 3k, which is definately low enough in any race setting.

you don't have to worry about that, the internal wastegates won't be able to control boost well before that point, so you can't go that high anyway.

I'm curious as to how these would compare to the BNR Stage Two "secrets" For those not familiar, follow the tread in the 3rd gen forum. THese are stock upgrades that will be priced around $2K and can make a good 450rwhp. Just curious as to how they compare. Again, these turbos look sweet as f-ck as well. The manifold is what really make me drooll...... Funny how the "single turbo" forum has turned to TWINS!

I gotta ask about working on a FC as well. Perhaps we'd need to get the FD UIM and LIM to clear? I was just about to get a 35/40, but this may be even sweeter for a street car.

These will *spank* the BNR's. More efficient manifold, larger turbos capable of flowing more cfm, dual ball bearing...yeah...

Too bad it's like $8000

Maybe I won't do a LS1 swap afterall....hmmmmm....
Actually it's only about $6,500.00 from jt-imports from the last price check. I'm not sure how much the Yen has gone up since then.
