without watching the video, did they feather the throttle? boost curve seems laggy. Great results nonetheless!

Depends on the ramp rate, according to the videos it makes 14.5 psi by 3700RPMS with the boost controller on, about 3900rpms with just spring pressure.

HP Academy knows what they are doing. I was subscribed to their paid program for a while and I learned some good stuff. I was a moderator on their private forum for a while.

I paid for the universal membership.

Work life has taken a few turns over the last few years but in a well paid steady job now, should have the opportunity to put all the HPA stuff into practice with the addition of a Plex combustion logger over the next year or so. Will only be starting with a 35r and basic pre-turbo WI but hoping to step up one of the turblown quickspool turbine housings on a big EFR down the track. Firearms have absorbed a fair bit of play money in the mean time.

Are you buying a Plex analyzer? I've never used theirs, but I've used much more expensive commercial analyzers.

HPA is also going to be doing a video on our new variable a/r housing!

Have the Plex in the cupboard.

They did a TeamViewer session with me before purchase, the software is pretty good, the tfx stuff worked out to be a similar price for a much less powerful and flexible product. The Plex is pretty much a chassis and combustion logger in one. Would be cool if an ECU manufacturer set up can for auto tune.

Now that I've reviewed the logs, it made the 420rwhp at only 14 psi( 14.2 psi was a peak early on).

I can see why it made 420rwhp at such low boost on this style of dyno, emap was less than 1:1 ( seen below).

That;'s probably 460rwhp on a dynojet FYI.

is under 1:1 emap not typical for this turbo. do stock ports create less emap?

the dyno in the opening post only indicates 11-12 psig then with it not getting up towards 14 psig until after 5000 rpm so I can see why it was questioned as being “laggy” in a previous post.

otherwise it’s sitting at the lower end of the compressor’s highest efficiency island at peak and you could argue giving up response and torque down low to achieve that; which again, the dyno graph in the opening post seems to indicate, but certainly safe and reliable there for sure.

so maybe that wasn’t the best of the dyno graphs those stated numbers are coming from, because something isn’t matching there.

I believe the first post's dyno sheet was without the boost controller on. The car with the controller on made 14 psi by 3800rpm range. Its covered in one of the videos.

Our EWG kits are 600 rpms slower than IWG for those wondering( runner length, volume, and the .92 vs 1.05), also the 8474 is 250/300rpms slower than the 8374. The 8474 has a 68mm inducer vs the 62mm on the 8374.

that makes sense, thanks for taking the time to explain it.

I watched the videos, but they were sort of all over the place discussing multiple things and do I likely just overlooked it there.

Did they ever make the video? I can't find anything about it being used, other than it exists
