I have the 3" not sure how they compare but I am more than safisfied with the quality. I would assume that the only difference is the width.

o k, so this is a bit off topic but what's going on w your twin setup?

mine has been all disassembled after doing 7500 miles last summer... i don't drive my fd in the wisconsin winter. i have got a lot of additional systems and upgrades for it and will be back testing in approx 3 weeks.

Mine is up and running after my recent clutch issues ...., it runs GREAR !! and its not tuned yet .my wastegates open @ 11.5 psi long before I get to 5000 rpm , I am awaiting my tuner to get back so that I can go on the dyno , could be this weekend !!!. As for the IC , how would it compare to my large NPR ??

I have the 4", but have not driven the car yet cause of my leaky fuel rail. Even when I do start driving her, it will be a while b4 I can report cause I have to break in the engine.

For $130, it sure looks pretty though

.. an IC will pretty much loose any cooling EFF. after the 2" point.. 3" is just to aid flow and 4" is a sales gimmick. if you need more flow and you run at higher boosts move to a proper bar and plate..

What is a "proper" bar and plate? I know these ebay items are advertised as such sometimes, can you educate me as to what to look for so I don't get ripped off?

Then why is the Apexi GT core about 5" thick? Ari Yallon has been running that core for some time now. I believe he is still the same intercooler now. I wouldn't think Apexi would spend all that time and money on R&D and build something that wouldn't benifit performance results.

like ANY heat sink, cooling eff. drops off as the cooling media, be it water or air or whatever, stays in contact with the heated surfaces. in this case the air passing over the fins on the front of the rad is 100% eff. ( siplification), the ef. will drop of at a cubed rate I believe, have to check that but it's been shown fairly well that after the 2" mark eff. is so low as to mot make a difference ..

As I stated above the deeper core rads are used to get the most flow possible. obviously Ari is pushing allot of air, very quickly.. a 2" core is not going to be efficient for doing that in the saze required.. same with Apexi , they make a IC to work with XXXX ammount of CFM.. in a constrained space.. only way to go is width sometimes. The addition of heat dispersants also makes a huge diference ..

Thier used to be one company on Ebay out of champlain NY ( they were actually out of Laval Que. ) I think thier online name was Extreme machine and then extreme coolers or something like that.. they had amazing cores and the end tanks were not cast but rather very well crafted plate, TIG welded by hand and had custom end tank and outlet setups.. now they are gone as thier IC's were on avg. $100-$150 more then the ' craptastical' IC's they have on there now..

Spearco is the most obvious choice for a quality core, Bell intercoolers is still my favorite for cores.
