A-spec 3574R install

So, I finally took the plunge and started my single install a couple weeks ago. I dont post much on the forum as you can see, but I thought this would be worthy enough. Some of the parts were bought used thru the forum, and most of the new parts thru Jason. I am the third owner of the A-spec kit but it has never been installed, Shaun has been very helpful with any questions and I will be hauling it out there once complete for the initial tune. Aside from what came with the kit, all work has been done by me, which is also why it is taking so long...

Nothing too crazy as far as parts, but nice none the less:
A-spec 3574R BB turbo kit
KG secondary fuel kit
Pulleys
AEM Truboost
Innovative WB
Tial BOV
ACT extreme PP
ACT LtWt flywheel
3.5x11x18 IC core from Bell Intercoolers
PFC & datalog (used)
and probably some other stuff =)

Damn I wish I would have painted the engine bay...

Have to roll the fender lip, and I have put the tire into the bottom of the inner fender but that was in an autoX, never had a problem on the street.

I was originally going to complete the swap as fast as I could and not waste any time on cleaning or making it look good, but ambition got the better of me, That and the fact that the majority of the engine accessories were already removed. The oil pan was leaking as was the front cover so I decided to clean up the engine and paint the irons. I'm glad I did because when I removed the front cover the oil pump gear nut fell on the floor...awesome!

The lift was a great addition, it is a mid-rise 46" lift height. If I lower the mechanics stool I can sit upright and clear pretty much everything.

Well, pretty much everything is installed aside from the new IC, I just made a new pipe for the turbo side of my old IC for now. Overall the kit fit pretty well imo, had to persuade the dump line a bit to get the wg installed, not really a big deal though. I did however make a sleeve to align the dp with the turbine housing which mad the installation a breeze. The sleeve is .016 SS and was a slight interference fit into the turbine hsg, had to use a block of wood and a hammer to set it.

the lift is portable, and the power unit is normally mounted on a cart. I just decided to make a wall mount since I dont have a need to use it anywhere else.

Is this some kind of rental garage?

Thats a lot of money on that lift, nice build, and like others say very clean indeed.

all good.

do make sure you have complete heat blockage between the turbine housing and your LIM runners.

i used a sheet of Mica from Mcmaster Carr. by far the best substance for heat blockage.

Very nice! As Howard explained , you are going to want to heat shield and also get some DEI heat sleeving on those rubber hoses! Look into dei heat hose sheilds. G

I'm on McMaster now and they have sheets and film. Something like the 1/8'' 10x12 sheet would work? Just curious on the specifics of how you installed it. I've been interested in using mica as a heat blocker, just haven't put it to work yet.

BTW, awesome build, everything looks great. +1 for a clean car/garage/install. Cleanliness makes everything go smoother imo.

Thanks again for the compliments, I do plan on heat shielding, CAI, new IC, and engine bay repaint but it will have to wait till this winter, Just trying to get it going with a good base tune so I can enjoy it a bit this fall...I have a mostly fresh set of A6's that need to get shredded this year!

Anyhoo, some pic updates:

Old IC back in for now;

New BOV flange fitted and welded;

Piping done... this is where you can see that i need a narrower IC (which I have the core) so I can make a CAI;
