CT Single Turbo Manifold Build

Hey guys,

So I picked up an S366 and have been wondering what I'm going to do for a manifold. Of course the guys at Turblown and A-Spec have some very attractive pieces that are tried and true, and the guys at Full-Race make some pretty looking designs. Then there's the DOCRace and Gato manifold that also look like solid designs. Too many decisions! So what do I do? With the help of a good friend, we decided to build one.

Here are some pics, I'll be happy to answer any questions about it. I'll also have results from the rest of the build when this thing goes to the dyno. Take care all, Happy Holidays!

-Mike

Nice. Which Thermal Arc welder is he using in that picture? I'm about to buy a TA 186 next month I think.

I can ask him and get back to you. I'm not super familiar with them but they pack quite a punch in a small form factor.

It looks like an arc master 200. I have a thermal arc tig welder and i have had no problems with it and nothing bad to say about it.

Hellooo, its an arc master 185. Great machine! Ive never had problems with it and love the compact design. I travel alot for custom fab jobs so it helps keep it easy to be mobile!

The manifold is all SS304 schedule 10. I chose to do 2 inch runners as opposed to 1.5 and will post the results from the dyno when we're all done.

The flange from racing beat was worked over a bit as well. We enlarged the ports for a smoother transition. We'll also be doing some port work on the turbo flange as this area can be smoothed out as well.

This is the prototype, let us know if there was something you'd like to see different if it were yours!

We'll also have finished pics up within the next week or so of the completed manifold, coupled with purple tial goodness!

good deal! i bought all the materials to make my own but decided to say EFF it and bought a 600$ trackforged (doc race similiar)

I basicly said this **** will take forever without a band saw and decided to take on the manifold for the rx3 when i get a band saw lol.

This is understandable. We decided to keep it as simple as possible with out of the box pieces. With this design, we only had to modify one small piece to make it work. This would facilitate easy construction in the future if we wanted to reproduce these for the community. Fyi, no bandsaw needed here..yet!

FYI, look for some updates in the coming days. Should have some finished up pics of the manifold with wastegates mounted. Also, if anyone would like to see turbo placement, I can post those as well.

This car is going to be running a v-mount as well, so many things were taken into consideration. Some of our priorities were things like, ease to install and work on, as well as heat management for the LIM.

More to come!

Thumbs up

More pics!!

We're probably going to wait until the downpipe is completed to place the wastegates. They will be nice and symmetrical when completed, with some nice angled dump tubes for maximum obnoxiousness!

Happy Holidays everyone!

As of right now the motor is out of the car and being sent away for a rebuild.

I'll keep you updated as we move through the process.

Currently, the manifold is complete but we're going to hold off on the wastegate placement until the motor is back in and the downpipe is completed. This way, we can place the gates in the most user friendly places.
