Single Turbo How-to

Hi Guys,

I am going for a single turbo setup from the stock twins... i got the whole kit in bits and pieces and have no instructions...

I have a T04e Turbo
A turbosmart Ultra-gate 45mm wastegate
a manifold for the turbo with a fitiing for the wastegate
a downpipe

But here is the catch i do not have any idea what to block-off and what vaccums stay and which ones go...

Some detailed Instructions with pics would be greatly appreciated like the ones people have posted for the non-sequential setup...

If you are ditching the airpump and other controls, you can remove and block off the EGR (if you have a 93 or 94) and ACV. You also only need one oil return port, so you can block off the rear oil return line. I kept three solenoids on my HKS t04e setup. The EGR, ACV, and I think the purge control. If you are looking at the solenoid rack, I kept the two closest to the firewall, and another one that is second or third from the other end of the rack.

You basically get rid of anything turbo-control related. You'll also want to run the OMP lines to a vacuum source that is boost-dependent; the HKS kit comes with a nipple that goes on the turbo intake pipe. The t04e I have is only oil-cooled, so the turbo coolant lines are blocked off too.

Hi Guys,

Here is the reason why i need the detailed instructions. I just blew my engine. The rebuild kit is on its way. This will be the first time that the guy who is rebuilding my engine will be rebuilding a rotary. I have also ordered the bruce turrentine rebuild video with the kit to facilitate the rebuild process.

I just got this single turbo off of another FD who also just blew his engine. He had installed the turbo himself and it is a custom fabricated turbo kit so i do not get any block off plates or instructions.. I do not know which oil lines to block.. Making block off plates here would be very cheap...

So i am very confused because i do not want to put the twins back in and then again take the twins out and put the sinlge in... It would cost me alot too.

I need detailed instructions so that i can be sure if there is a problem its not the single turbo.. Else i would have to check both the engine and the turbo...

I hope i got my message through..
Please a detailed single turbo conversion....

thanks

Your question is almost impossible to answer with one single set of instructions, especially if you want it in detail. Everyone who has done a single conversion most likely have done it a little different from one to the other.
You had stated that the "kit" you have is custom, how would you expect anyone to give you detailed instructions on a unique setup no one else has??
We can only provide general instructions on the conversion, if you cannot work out the details based on that then you really shouldn't be attempting this kind of work.

theres a nice diagram on here for single turbo vacuums
search for xstransam as user name in this section youll see it

also....if the guy blew the engine with that turbo you should check the back wheel on the turbo carefully to see if any fins are chipped. And NOT at all a good idea to take your engine to the first time guy

I'm pretty sure he's in Fla. Done business with him, and he's a good guy. Even if he were from Pakistan, I don't understand the logic of your comment.
