Yes, as can about anything else. A friend of mine used it as an FMIC on his stock-block 10AE, and it did improve performance over the stock intercooler. However, there are better intercoolers that you could use.

There is no "psi rating" industry standard. Vendors usually attach a psi rating to their products as a sales pitch, but this has little to do with how much boost the product will allow you to run on your engine. If you don't believe me, then install the intercooler, and I will come over and tune your car, and I guarantee I can blow up your engine at less than "14psi".

Spearco uses a cfm rating to indicate the point at which their product incurs a 1.5psi pressure drop. This has nothing to do with detonation or the amount of boost you can run. It is a simplified pressure drop (restriction) rating, and you can run more or less boost than the rating. Spearco supplies charts for better pressure drop planning.

Other vendors may use a psi rating to indicate the product's burst pressure, or any other statistic.

For those who believe intercooler "psi ratings", I market my Evil P1PE intercooler, which is "rated to 40psi". I am willing to sell them at the low cost of $800 including shipping. Here is a picture:

And here is proof that this design works at "40psi":

Why buy those junk "14psi" intercoolers from GReddy and Spearco, when you can buy my Evil P1PE for only $800?

The idea was to also read the beginning of my post so that the sarcasm at the end of the post would be understood.
